Folding of the apolipoprotein A1 driven by the salt concentration as a possible mechanism to improve cholesterol trapping [PDF]
The folding of the cholesterol trapping apolipoprotein A1 in aqueous solution at increasing ionic strength is studied using atomically detailed molecular dynamics simulations. We calculate various structural properties to characterize the conformation of the protein, such as the radius of gyration, the radial distribution function and the end to end ...

Role of Apolipoprotein E in Anxiety
Anxiety is most common among Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients with an age at onset under age 65. Apolipoprotein E4 (apoE4) is a risk factor for developing AD at an earlier age and might contribute to this effect. In mice, apoE plays a role in the regulation of anxiety, which might involve histamine receptor-mediated signaling and steroidogenesis in ...

Supramolecular biomimetic nanoaggregates (HFCu NAs), constructed with fluorinated histidine and copper ions via metal coordination and aromatic packing, exhibit enhanced reactive oxygen species (ROS)generation at tumor sites, which results in stepwise collapse of the extracellular matrix (ECM), affording tumor microenvironment responsive “turn‐on” 19F ...

Antigen targeting to dendritic cells: Still a place in future immunotherapy?
Dendritic cell‐based immunotherapy is a promising vaccination strategy to treat infectious diseases, autoimmunity, and cancer. In this review, we present an overview on the current state of antigen targeting approaches via C‐type lectin receptors, with an outlook on future developments and potential for clinical translation.

Observation of Cholesterol Dissolved in Microscopic Deposits of Free Fatty Acids in the Lumen of an Aorta of a Mouse Model for Human Atherosclerosis [PDF]
The Raman spectrum of microscopic droplets of lipid material on the lumen of the aorta of an apolipoprotein E knock-out mouse were reported in the proceedings of an SPIE conference. Based on the absence of the carbonyl band in the spectrum, at that time it was determined that the spectrum represents free fatty acids rather than triglycerides.

Hydroxyapatite Binding Peptide Lipid Nanoparticles for Biomimetic mRNA Delivery to Bone
Targeted delivery of therapeutic mRNA to peripheral tissues, including bone, is currently challenging. In the current work, a hydroxyapatite binding peptide (HABP) is conjugated to mRNA lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). HABP‐LNPs delivered systemically are demonstrated to reduce transfection in the liver and improve transfection in the femurs of mice ...
