Synthesis of two analogues of arachidonic acid and their reactions with 12-Lipoxygenase
Tetrahedron, 1990Abstract Two analogues of arachidonic acid (AA) were synthesized and their reaction with purified porcine 12-lipoxygenase was investigated. The analogue (Z,Z,Z,E)-5,8,11,13 eicosatetraienoic acid 1 was found to be a substrate for the enzyme, being oxidized at one third the rate of AA.

Tissue Distribution and Subcellular Localization of Platelet-Type Arachidonate 12-Lipoxygenase
1997Arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase introduces one oxygen molecule regiospecifically and stereoselectively into the carbon 12 of arachidonic acid. Our group has demonstrated the occurrence of two isoforms of 12-lipoxygenase (platelet-type and leukocyte-type) which were distinguished in terms of substrate specificity, the cross-reactivity of their antibodies ...

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 1993
On the basis of the previous work by Okuma and Uchino [Blood 54, 1258-1271, 1979], three patients with myeloproliferative disorders were investigated with a special reference to arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase in their platelets. The cytosol of the patients' platelets showed a markedly reduced activity of arachidonic acid oxygenation to 12-hydroperoxy ...

12-Lipoxygenases were found in the cytosol fraction of bovine leukocytes and platelets. The bovine leukocyte enzyme was immunoprecipitable by a monoclonal antibody directed to 12-lipoxygenase of porcine leukocytes, but not by a monoclonal antibody against the human platelet enzyme.
