VISTA promotes the metabolism and differentiation of myeloid-derived suppressor cells by STAT3 and polyamine-dependent mechanisms

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) impair antitumor immune responses. Identifying regulatory circuits during MDSC development may bring new opportunities for therapeutic interventions.

Natural Polysaccharides for Rheumatoid Arthritis Therapy: Mechanism, Drug Delivery and Clinical Application

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of the experimental models, therapeutic mechanisms, drug delivery systems, and clinical potential of natural polysaccharides in rheumatoid arthritis. ABSTRACT Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized primarily by chronic synovitis.

Targeting arginine metabolism reverses bone immunosuppressive microenvironment and metastasis in ARID1A-deficient triple negative breast cancer

open access: yesNature Communications
Bone metastasis is a lethal consequence of breast cancer. AT-rich interaction domain 1 A gene (ARID1A), a subunit of the switch/sucrose non-fermentable (SWI/SNF) complex, regulates immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment.

Progress in bone tissue engineering biomaterials: Development, challenges, and prospects

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Scheme 1 Application of biomaterials in immunomodulation during bone tissue engineering. Abstract Bone defect repair remains a major clinical challenge in orthopedics. Over 2 million cases caused by trauma, tumors, and other factors occur annually, with large‐scale defects posing a particular bottleneck due to limited self‐healing capacity.

Understanding the Type 2 Immunity: An Evolving View Beyond Allergic Diseases

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Type 2 (T2) immunity is classically associated with defense against helminths and environmental threats, from a physiological perspective, and with allergies and eosinophilic inflammatory diseases, in a pathological sense. However, growing evidence reveals that T2 pathways also support other essential homeostatic functions, including tissue ...

Anesthetic Management of a Pediatric Patient with Arginase Deficiency

open access: yes, 2011
Arginase deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder of the urea cycle in which a defect in conversion of arginine to urea and ornithine leads to hyperammonemia. Patients with urea cycle disorders may show increased protein catabolism due to inadequate

Complement receptor C3aR marks heterogeneous tumor‐associated macrophage states associated with improved survival in IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
C3aR expression in IDH‐wildtype glioblastoma is predominantly associated with the myeloid/macrophage compartment and heterogeneous macrophage states. C3aR‐high tumors are enriched among MGMT promoter‐methylated tumors and show improved overall survival, although the prognostic association requires independent validation.

Inhibition of the MER tyrosine kinase ameliorates pulmonary fibrosis by suppressing macrophage M2 polarisation and osteopontin signalling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose The MER proto‐oncogene tyrosine kinase (MERTK) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis (PF), and MERTK inhibition has been shown to ameliorate PF. However, the mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we have investigated how MERTK inhibition attenuates bleomycin (BLM)‐induced PF in mice and to elucidate the ...

Lactate and Lactylation: What We Know and What We Expect in Tumour Progression

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Lactate and lactylation in cancer cells have been shown to accelerate tumour development in various ways, including stemness generation, metabolic dysregulation, cell death, chemotherapy resistance, and cell cycle disorder. In addition, lactate and lactylation promote angiogenesis and create an immunosuppressive microenvironment, which promotes tumour ...
