Arginine deprivation for ASS1-deficient mesothelioma

The Lancet Oncology, 2016
www.thelancet.com/oncology Vol 17 October 2016 e423 Arginine deprivation therapy improves progression-free survival in patients with argininosuccinate synthetase 1 (ASS1)-defi cient malignant pleural mesothelioma, according to a new study . The investigators in the phase 2 trial screened 201 patients with mesothelioma from centres in the UK.

Arginine deprivation and tumour cell death: Arginase and its inhibition

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2003
Arginase treatment of cell cultures reduced arginine in the medium to approximately micromolar levels within 5-30 min, and proved as effective as arginine-free medium (AFM) prepared by formulation. The enzyme was heat stable and as active at pH 7.2 as at pH 9.9.

Hemodynamic effects of arginine vasopressin in conscious water-deprived rats

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1985
By means of a specific antagonist [d(CH2)5AVP] of the vasoconstrictor activity of arginine vasopressin (AVP), we studied whether the vasoconstrictor effect of AVP contributed to the blood pressure control during water deprivation in conscious rats. After 24 h of dehydration plasma AVP rose from 3.5 +/- 0.5 to 11.2 +/- 2.0 fmol/ml.

Effects of Arginine and Its Deprivation on Human Glioblastoma Physiology and Signaling

2020
The observations that numerous cancers are characterized by impairment in arginine synthesis and that deficit of exogenous arginine specifically affects their growth and viability are the ground for arginine deprivation-based anticancer treatment strategy.

Immunofluorescence of arginine deprived cells infected with adenovirus type 12

Experientia, 1972

Adenovirus type 2 polypeptide synthesis in arginine-deprived cells

Virology, 1980
Abstract Among the exogenous amino acids which are essential for mammalian cell growth in vitro, only arginine (arg) is absolutely required for productive infection by nuclear DNA viruses. As previously reported, when arg-deprived KB cells are infected with adenovirus type 2, both viral DNA and viral structural proteins are synthesized at appropriate

Particles released from Arginine Deprived Human Leukaemic Cells

Nature New Biology, 1973
STUDIES on human leukaemic cells reveal the presence in the cytoplasmic fraction of an RNase sensitive DNA polymerase1 complexed with 70S RNA2 and virus specific polysomal RNA3. The DNA product of this enzymatic reaction specifically hybridized to leukaemic nuclear DNA and not to nuclear DNA from normal leukocytes4.

The effect of arginine deprivation on the cytopathogenic effect and replication of human cytomegalovirus

Archives of Virology, 1975
Arginine is necessary for the development of the cytopathogenic effect of human cytomegalovirus in human embryonic fibroblasts. It is also required, though in greater concentrations, for the production of infective virions, the requirement being at an early stage of replication.

Fluid Deprivation in Enuresis - Effect on Urine Output and Plasma Arginine Vasopressin

Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, 1999
Desmopressin responders tend to have a large volume of urine production at night, in contrast to desmopressin refractory patients who often produce normal volumes of urine. Controls and adolescent/adult primary monosymptomatic nocturnal enuretics were included in a study measuring urine volume and plasma vasopressin levels before and during a 24-hour ...
