The Controlled Release of Insect Pheromones From Biobased Thermoplastic Compounds for Sustainable Pest Management

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
This study advances sustainable pest management by characterizing novel insect‐specific pheromone compounds with a linear release profile. Release rate constants are derived from accelerated high‐temperature tests, enabling broadly applicable comparisons of pheromone‐polymer compounds.

Intrinsically Mitochondria‐Targeting Nanozyme via Coordination‐Assembly of Natural Quercetin for Cascade Antioxidant Therapy of Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 50, 7 September 2026.
This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...

Natural Variation of COLD and CATECHINS REGULATOR 1 Coordinately Fine‐Tunes Cold Tolerance and Tea Quality in Tea Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 52, 18 September 2026.
Multi‐trait genome‐wide association mapping identifies a central hub regulator, COLD AND CATECHINS REGULATOR 1 (CCR1), and its excellent natural allele variation, coordinately enhancing cold tolerance and promoting catechins biosyntheis. CsCCR1 interacts with CsCBF1/3 and is transcriptionally activated by CsLUX and CsKUA1 to promote catechins ...

Metagenomic Association Uncovers Host Genotype‐Structured Rhizobacterial Networks and Novel Taxa That Enhance Soybean Salt Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 53, 24 September 2026.
An STI‐guided metagenomic association framework links soybean salt‐tolerance phenotypes with rhizosphere microbiome composition and network organization in natural saline soils. The approach identifies candidate beneficial taxa, including Thalassospira xiamenensis, and provides an efficient strategy for mining stress‐protective microbes from native ...

Changing straw management practices in California rice fields: A recent and historical analysis of the Sacramento Valley

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Agricultural practices are constantly evolving due to changes in regulation, climate, and technology. Regulations in California resulted in phasing out rice (Oryza sativa L.) straw burning in the 1990s, leading to a range of alternative practices to manage the straw, which impact agronomic practices, air quality, ecosystem services, and ...

Phytochemical Profiling and Evaluation of Antibacterial, Anticancer, Anti‐inflammatory, and Wound‐Healing Activities of Endophytic Fungi Isolated From Atalantia racemosa

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Endophytic fungi are recognized as prolific sources of structurally diverse secondary metabolites with significant pharmaceutical potential. In the present study, endophytic fungi were isolated from healthy tissues of Atalantia racemosa (Rutaceae), an ethnomedicinal plant traditionally used for respiratory disorders and blood purification.

Two γ‐Lactone Derivatives With Anti‐Inflammatory Activities From a Mangrove Endophytic Fungus Alternaria sp. HN‐17

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
Two new γ‐lactone derivatives, alterlactones A–B (1–2), and a known analogue, 3were isolated from Alternaria sp. HN‐17. Their structures were elucidated by NMR, HRESIMS and ECD calculations. Both 1 and 2 showed potent anti‐inflammatory activity. ABSTRACT Two γ‐lactone derivatives, alterlactones A‐B (1–2), along with one known analogue 3, were isolated ...

Design, Synthesis, and Antifungal Activity of Natural Furan Carboxylic Acid Derivatives as Potential Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitors

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
A series of furanamide derivatives were designed and synthesized. Among these compounds, those containing the trifluoromethyl (─CF3) group exhibited the most potent antifungal activity. Notably, compounds 3m and 6b showed particularly strong effects, and their mechanism of action was further investigated.
