Viscous flow of the Cu47-Ti34-Zr11-Ni8 glass forming alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The viscosity of the Cu47-Ti34-Zr11-Ni8 glass forming alloy was determined by beam bending experiments and by a noncontact oscillating drop technique. These viscosity data can be described with the Vogel-Fulcher-Tammann relation. Using the strong/fragile

Lithium Intercalation in the Anisotropic Van Der Waals Semiconductor CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report the lithium intercalation in the layered van der Waals crystal CrSBr, revealing strongly anisotropic ion‐migration dynamics. Optical and electrical characterization of exfoliated CrSBr shows lithium diffusion coefficients that differ by more than an order of magnitude along a‐ and b‐directions, consistent with molecular dynamics simulations ...

Role of human glutathione transferases in biotransformation of the nitric oxide prodrug JS-K

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Nitric oxide (NO) plays a prominent physiological role as a low-molecular-mass signal molecule involved in diverse biological functions. Great attention has been directed to pharmacologically modulating the release of NO for various therapeutic ...

Pressure Effects in Supercooled Water: Comparison between a 2D Model of Water and Experiments for Surface Water on a Protein

open access: yes, 2008
Experiments in bulk water confirm the existence of two local arrangements of water molecules with different densities, but, because of inevitable freezing at low temperature $T$, can not ascertain whether the two arrangements separate in two phases.

Ionic conductivity and relaxation dynamics in plastic-crystals with nearly globular molecules

open access: yes, 2020
We have performed a dielectric investigation of the ionic charge transport and the relaxation dynamics in plastic-crystalline 1-cyano-adamantane (CNA) and in two mixtures of CNA with the related plastic crystals adamantane or 2-adamantanon.

Infrared Nanocrystals for Space Application: Hardness to Irradiations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates infrared HgTe nanocrystals under X‐ray and ion irradiation, revealing remarkable radiation hardness. It uncovers distinct degradation mechanisms and shows that the nanomaterial outperforms integrated electronics. The results position colloidal nanocrystals as promising candidates for resilient space and harsh‐environment ...

Compositional Changes of Volatile Organic Compounds in Biogases and Biomethanes Depending on the Feedstock in Sweden

open access: yesGases
Biogas usually contains volatile organic compounds such as terpenes, siloxanes, halogenated hydrocarbons, ketones, alcohols, furans and esters whose presence in the biogas is highly dependent on the feedstock.

Strongly Non-Arrhenius Self-Interstitial Diffusion in Vanadium

open access: yes, 2004
We study diffusion of self-interstitial atoms (SIAs) in vanadium via molecular dynamics simulations. The -split interstitials are observed to diffuse one-dimensionally at low temperature, but rotate into other directions as the temperature is increased.

Suppression of Photo‐Mediated Traps in Integrated Organic Photovoltaic–Photodetector Devices via N‐Type Self‐Assembly‐Driven Interfacial Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional unstable electron transport layers (ETLs) limit self‐powered organic sensors. This work resolves this by developing a n‐type self‐assembled monolayer (SAM), “3‐PAPh”. This SAM forms a chemically stable and structurally ordered interface that fundamentally suppresses defect formation.

Condensation of solids in space. Isotope fractionation in the model system C-O [PDF]

open access: yes
The reported chemical fractionation of a single isotope O-16 under simulated space conditions provides the first experimental proof for the hypothesis that the oxygen isotopic anomaly (and other similar anomalies) seen in meteorites is a product of ...
