Attenuation and Immunogenicity of a Live High Pathogenic PRRSV Vaccine Candidate with a 32‐Amino Acid Deletion in the nsp2 Protein

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
A porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) QY1 was serially passed on Marc‐145 cells. Virulence of different intermediate derivatives of QY1 (P5, P60, P80, and P100) were determined. The study found that QY1 had been gradually attenuated during the in vitro process.

Identification of a new cell line permissive to porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus infection and replication which is phenotypically distinct from MARC-145 cell line [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Airborne transmitted pathogens, such as porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), need to interact with host cells of the respiratory tract in order to be able to enter and disseminate in the host organism.

Endogenous Antimicrobial‐Immunomodulatory Molecules: Networking Biomolecules of Innate Immunity

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 25, Issue 12, June 17, 2024.
A network of biomolecules (peptides, saccharides, lipids, nucleic acids, organic molecules, metal ions) endogenous to the human brain and exhibiting both antimicrobial and immunomodulatory activities has been identified. This network constitutes a previously uncatalogued and collectively underappreciated immuno‐active group of synergistic molecular ...

The Development of Unconventional Extrathymic Activated CD4+CD8+ T Cells in Chagas Disease

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
The numbers of extrathymic CD4+CD8+ double‐positive (DP) T cells are augmented in various pathophysiological conditions, such as infectious diseases caused by intracellular pathogens, organs subjected to autoimmune attack and malignant tumors. The roles performed by extrathymic DP T cells are not clear, and it is not known how they are distributed in ...

Autophagy: New Questions from Recent Answers

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Macroautophagy (hereafter autophagy) is currently one of the areas of medical life sciences attracting a great interest because of its pathological implications and therapy potentials. The discovery of the autophagy-related genes (ATGs) has been the key event in this research field because their study has led to the acquisition of new knowledge about ...
