Patophysiology of articular cartilage in elderly [PDF]
Background Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease involving diarthrosis articulations. The evolution of the disease is very slow; the first changes regard the cell- matrix morpho-functional unit of articular cartilage called chondron by Benninghoff.

Readily UV‐curing and self‐healing methacrylated collagen peptide (COPMA) hydrogels are developed with tunable mechanical properties. As the interpenetrating network between COPMA and xanthan gum (XG), COPMA‐XG bioinks show improved mechanical properties, printability, and stability, compared to COPMA or XG.

Octacalcium phosphate crystals directly stimulate expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase through p38 and JNK mitogen-activated protein kinases in articular chondrocytes [PDF]
Basic calcium phosphate (BCP) crystals, including hydroxyapatite, octacalcium phosphate (OCP) and carbonate-apatite, have been associated with severe osteoarthritis and several degenerative arthropathies.

Bioxolography, a novel volumetric 3D‐bioprinting technique, enables rapid and high‐resolution fabrication of >1 cm3 engineered living materials. A newly developed three‐component photoinitiator system significantly enhances the photoreactivity of gelatin methacryloyl‐based bioresins, allowing for precise xolographic bioprinting.

Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Cocultured with Chondrocytes Promote the Proliferation of Chondrocytes
Articular cartilage injury and defect caused by trauma and chronic osteoarthritis vascularity are very common, while the repair of injured cartilage remains a great challenge due to its limited healing capacity.

A scaffold-free approach to cartilage tissue generation using human embryonic stem cells
Articular cartilage functions as a shock absorber and facilitates the free movement of joints. Currently, there are no therapeutic drugs that promote the healing of damaged articular cartilage. Limitations associated with the two clinically relevant cell

Knee Articular Cartilage Repair and Restoration Techniques
Context: Isolated chondral and osteochondral defects of the knee are a difficult clinical challenge, particularly in younger patients for whom alternatives such as partial or total knee arthroplasty are rarely advised.
