Purification and characterization of proteinase inhibitor from Artocarpus integrifolia seeds

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 1989
Abstract A trypsin-chymotrypsin inhibitor has been isolated and purified from seeds of the jackfruit plant, Artocarpus integrifolia . Its purity has been checked by PAGE, isoelectric focusing, immunochemical tests and sedimentation in the ultracentrifuge. The inhibitor has an M r of 44 200 and a pI of 4.5.

A neutrophil migration-inducing lectin from Artocarpus integrifolia.

Journal of Immunology, 1994
Abstract A neutrophil migration-inducing protein has been isolated from the saline extract of Artocarpus integrifolia seeds by successive sugar affinity chromatography steps during which the protein was not absorbed by D-galactose resin, and then was absorbed to and eluted from d-mannose resin by 0.1 M d-mannose.

Homology between jacalin and artocarpin from jackfruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) seeds. Partial sequence and preliminary crystallographic studies of artocarpin

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D Biological Crystallography, 1997
Jacalin and artocarpin, the two lectins from jackfruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) seeds, have different physicochemical properties and carbohydrate-binding specificities. However, comparison of the partial amino-acid sequence of artocarpin with the known sequence of jacalin indicates close to 50% sequence identity.

Preparation and x-ray characterization of four new crystal forms of Jacalin, a lectin from Artocarpus integrifolia

open access: yesJournal of Molecular Biology, 1991
Four new crystal forms of the anti-T lectin from jackfruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) have been prepared and characterized. Three of them, two monoclinic (P21, a = 59.4 A, b = 83.3 A, c = 63.5 A, beta = 107.7 degrees; C2, a = 106.1 A, b = 53.9 A, c = 128.0 A, beta = 95.0 A) and one orthorhombic (C222(1), a = 98.1 A, b = 67.3 A, c = 95.1 A) were grown ...

Characterisation of a trypsin/chymotrypsin inhibitor from jack fruit (Artocarpus integrifolia) seeds

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1991
Jackfruit seed (Artocarpus integrifolia Hook8 trypsin inhibitor (JSTI) was found to be rich in acidic amino acids and devoid of free thiol groups. The N-terminal and C-terminal amino acids of JSTI were aspartic acid and serine, respectively.

Intrinsic fluorescence studies on saccharide binding to Artocarpus integrifolia lectin

open access: yesBioscience Reports, 1986
The combining region of Artocarpus integrifolia lectin has been studied by using the ligand-induced changes in the fluorescence of the lectin. The saccharide binding properties of the lectin show that C-1, C-2, C-4, and C-6 hydroxyl groups of D-galactose
