The pathobiology of Aspergillus fumigatus
Trends in Microbiology, 2001Aspergillus fumigatus is the most prevalent airborne fungal pathogen in developed countries, and in immunocompromised patients causes a usually fatal invasive aspergillosis (IA). Understanding the pathobiology of this fungal species requires not only analysis of the putative fungal virulence factors that stimulate fungal growth and/or survival in the ...

Genomics of Aspergillus fumigatus
Revista Iberoamericana de Micología, 2005Aspergillus fumigatus is a filamentous fungal saprophyte that is ubiquitous in the environment. It is also a human pathogen and induces allergenic response, negatively impacting health care and associated costs significantly around the world. Much of the basic biology of this organism is only poorly understood, but the recent completion and publication

Aspergillus fumigatus scleritis
Acta Ophthalmologica Scandinavica, 1995ABSTRACT We report a case of scleritis caused by Aspergillus fumigatus. The infection was successfully treated with antifungal drugs, cryotherapy and dura mater grafting. A 67‐year‐old man developed a scleral ulcer 2 months after suffering a trauma in his right eye caused by the branch of a tree.

Resistance of Aspergillus fumigatus to Itraconazole
Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1998ment with the drug. The author concluded that the A. fumigatus strains acquired resistance to itraconazole during or following treatment. The author, however, failed to determine whether or not the isolates cultured from the sputa were genotypically identical. Although invasive infections by Aspergillus species are generally caused by a single genotype

Serological studies on Aspergillus fumigatus
Mycopathologia et Mycologia Applicata, 19611) Extract was obtained by repeated cryolysis of acetone-dried mycelia ofAsp. fumigatus killed by formalin. High titer immune serum could be easily obtained by immunizing rabbits with this extract.
