Determination of Antifungal Activity of Some Organic Chemicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Antifungal activity of four organic compounds was determined against fungi. Out of these m-chloronitrobenzene and 2, 3-dichloro-5, 6-dicyno- 1, 4-benzoquinone (DDQ) were found most effective at 250 ppm (0.025%), while p-chloroanaline and p-bromobenzene ...

Microbial biotransformation of proteins into amino acids in unpolished Thai and polished Japanese rice varieties cultivated with distinct industrial strains of koji mold [PDF]

open access: yes
We previously reported the cultivation of industrial koji mold strains to produce unpolished Thai-colored rice kojis. These kojis, along with those made from unpolished Thai white rice and polished Japanese white rice, showed increased polyphenol content

Deficiency of β-xylosidase activity in Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii IFO 4308

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry
ABSTRACT In this study, we investigated a deleterious mutation in the β-xylosidase gene, xylA (AkxylA), in Aspergillus luchuensis mut. kawachii IFO 4308 by constructing an AkxylA disruptant and complementation strains of AkxylA and xylA derived from A. luchuensis RIB2604 (AlxylA), which does not harbor the mutation in xylA.
