Breaking the Selectivity Barrier of Single‐Atom Nanozymes Through Out‐of‐Plane Ligand Coordination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Here, Ru SAzyme with out‐of‐plane chlorine ligands is reported as a monofunctional, high‐performance peroxidase‐like nanozyme. Incorporating out‐of‐plane ligand coordination emulates enzyme selectivity and regulates reaction pathways for an identical substrate.

Zinc‐Coordinated Trienzyme Nanogel Cascade Therapy for Accelerated Post‐Pancreatectomy Cutaneous Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A zinc‐coordinated nanogel assembly is reported that co‐delivers three enzymes to regulate glucose, oxidative stress, and oxygen levels. This system mimics natural enzyme cascades to reprogram the wound environment after pancreatectomy. In a post‐pancreatectomy mouse model, it accelerates healing by reducing infection, promoting blood vessel growth ...

A Microfluidic Multiplex Sorter for Strain Development

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A new multiplex method for high‐throughput screening of yeast strains based on glucoamylase production is presented. Droplets containing single mutant yeast cells are incubated for enzyme production. A sorting platform divides mutants by their high‐ and mid‐activity levels.

Metabolism of Dethiobiotin in Aspergillus niger

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1968
Investigation of the metabolism of d- and dl-dethiobiotin in Aspergillus niger has revealed the following. 14C-5-Methyl-2-oxo-4-imidazolidine-butyric acid (the 2-carbon shorter side chain analogue) and 14C-5-methyl-2-oxo-4-imidazolidine-acetic acid (the 4-carbon shorter side chain analogue) have been characterized following their isolation by charcoal

Engineering Aspergillus niger for galactaric acid production: elimination of galactaric acid catabolism by using RNA sequencing and CRISPR/Cas9

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2016
Backgroundmeso-Galactaric acid is a dicarboxylic acid that can be produced by the oxidation of d-galacturonic acid, the main constituent of pectin. Mould strains can be engineered to perform this oxidation by expressing the bacterial enzyme uronate ...

Dual Foreign Body Response Mitigation Strategies for Implantable Glucose Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Sensor Research, EarlyView.
The foreign body response negatively impacts the analytical lifetime of implantable glucose sensors due to a heightened immune response and deposition of collagen. While nitric oxide release has shown promise as a foreign body response mitigation strategy, improvement is limited by the duration of release.
