Effect of Aspirin on Cancer Incidence and Mortality in Older Adults

open access: yesJournal of the National Cancer Institute, 2020
Background ASPirin in Reducing Events in the Elderly, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of daily low-dose aspirin (100 mg) in older adults, showed an increase in all-cause mortality, primarily due to cancer.

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Density Functional Theory Study on Chemical Reactivity of Aspirin: Substituent Effect

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم
There is strong evidence that thrombotic and inflammatory mechanisms play a role in COVID-19 severity. COVID-19 morality may be reduced by common drugs that block these pathways, such as Aspirin. New Aspirin derivatives were suggested by functionalizing

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Dissolvable polymeric microneedles loaded with aspirin for antiplatelet aggregation

open access: yesAsian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2023
To reduce mucosal damage in the gastrointestinal tract caused by aspirin, we developed a dissolvable polymeric microneedle (MN) patch loaded with aspirin. Biodegradable polymers provide mechanical strength to the MNs. The MN tips punctured the cuticle of

Durable B‐Cell Impairment While Sparing IgA B Cells After Ocrelizumab Therapy in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Ocrelizumab (OCR), a humanized anti‐CD20 monoclonal antibody, is highly efficient in relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RR‐MS). We assessed early cellular B‐cell profiles in patients prior to OCR treatment, on OCR treatment, and after 15 months of therapy discontinuation.

Aspirin inhibits colon cancer cell and tumor growth and downregulates specificity protein (Sp) transcription factors. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) is highly effective for treating colon cancer patients postdiagnosis; however, the mechanisms of action of aspirin in colon cancer are not well defined.

Serum Neurofilament Light Chain in Multiple Sclerosis: Superiority of Age‐ and BMI‐Corrected Z Scores/Percentiles Over Absolute Cutoff Values for Prediction of Treatment Response

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Prognostication of disease course and prediction of treatment response in multiple sclerosis is an unmet need. We compared the performance of serum neurofilament light chain Z scores (age‐ and BMI‐adjusted) with absolute concentrations for the prediction of response to disease‐modifying therapy.

Aspirin resistance in patients with acute coronary syndrome. Part 1

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2010
Aim. To evaluate the prevalence of aspirin resistance, its clinical features, potential solutions, and prognostic role in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Material and methods. The study included 51 patients with ACS and ST segment elevation (
