Preparation and Characterization of Crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) Chitosan with Different Deacetylation Degrees. [PDF]

open access: yesIran J Biotechnol, 2023
In this study, chitosan with various deacetylation degrees was extracted from crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) shells with the purpose of examining the effect of deacetylation on the characterization of chitosan.Recycling of wastes has become an important issue with the advancement of shellfish processing technology.

The reaction of nitrite with the haemocyanin of Astacus leptodactylus. [PDF]

open access: yesBiochem J, 1988
The reaction of nitrite at pH 5.7 with deoxyhaemocyanin of Astacus leptodactylus yielded methaemocyanin in two one-electron steps, as nitrite was reduced to NO. This methaemocyanin could be almost fully regenerated by an anaerobic treatment with HONH2, in contrast with the methaemocyanin prepared with H2O2.

Exploring Prey Selectivity and Feeding Habits of Wels Catfish (<i>Silurus glanis</i> L., 1758) in a Deep Anatolian Reservoir: Seasonal, Length, and Age-Dependent Diet Analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesAquac Nutr
Feeding habits and dietary preferences of wels catfish (Silurus glanis) were investigated in Sıddıklı Dam Lake through the examination of 200 individuals. The results revealed that the species predominantly exhibited piscivorous feeding characteristics, with Tinca tinca (IRI% = 78.93) identified as the primary food source. The food items in the stomach

Physiology of Ovarian Development in Crustaceans: Interactions Among Hormones, Nutrients, and Environmental Factors From Integrated Perspectives. [PDF]

open access: yesAquac Nutr
Reproductive maturation remains a central bottleneck in crustacean aquaculture, as ovarian development dictates broodstock quality, fecundity, and larval viability. This review synthesizes current knowledge on the physiological regulation of ovarian maturation in decapod crustaceans, emphasizing the interplay of hormones, nutrients, and environmental ...

Optimal Tryptophan Improved Growth and Regulated Agonistic Behavior of Oriental River Prawn, <i>Macrobrachium nipponense</i>. [PDF]

open access: yesAquac Nutr
Tryptophan, recognized as the third limiting amino acid, plays a crucial physiological function. The optimal tryptophan requirement for oriental river prawn (Macrobrachium nipponense) was assessed, and its impact on agonistic behavior was evaluated in this study. An 8‐week feeding trial was implemented with six different tryptophan levels: 0.07%, 0.17%,
