Quantitative determination of astilbin in rabbit plasma by liquid chromatography

Journal of Chromatography B, 2004
A simple method for determining the concentration of astilbin, a flavanone, in rabbit plasma has been developed. After liquid-liquid extraction, the flavanone was detected by HPLC on a 4.6-microm octadecylsilica column (Nova-Pak C-18) at 291 nm. Linear calibration graphs for astilbin were constructed from 0.44 to 22.17 microM. The limit of quantitation

Astilbin Protects Against Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Liver Fibrosis in Rats

Pharmacology, 2021
Background: Hepatic fibrosis is an inflammatory liver disease, and there is no effective therapy at present. Astilbin is a bioactive ingredient found in many medicinal and food plants, with antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor properties. Objectives: This study aimed

Aqueous Solubility and Stability Enhancement of Astilbin through Complexation with Cyclodextrins

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2012
The complexation of astilbin with α-, β-, and γ-cyclodextrin (CD) was studied by phase solubility test and UV-vis spectral titration. Complexation with CDs gradually decreased the absorbance of astilbin at 291 nm and obviously increased its water solubility. The formation constant (K(a)) between astilbin and the three CDs was calculated.

Astilbin suppresses collagen-induced arthritis via the dysfunction of lymphocytes

Inflammation Research, 2003
To examine the therapeutic effects of astilbin, a flavanoid isolated from Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae, on arthritis and to compare it with cyclosporine A (CsA).Type II collagen-induced arthritis in mice and its in vitro assays for proliferation, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) and NO production were performed.Astilbin dose-dependently inhibited the footpad

Astilbin engeletin in grapes and wine

Phytochemistry, 1983
Abstract Astilbin (dihydroquercetin 3-rhamnoside) and engeletin (dihydrokaempferol 3-rhamnoside) were isolated for the first time from grapes. Details of their identification include nonderivatized 1 H NMR spectra. These flavanonol glycosides were concentrated in the skins of white grapes, and were also present in white wines as shown by HPLC ...

The inhibitory effect of astilbin on the arteriosclerosis of murine thoracic aorta transplant

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology [Medical Sciences], 2009
The inhibitory effect of astilbin on transplant arteriosclerosis in murine model of thoracic aorta transplantation was examined. Model of rat thoracic aorta transplantation was established. Ninety rats were divided into three groups. In isograft group, the thoracic aorta of Brown Norway (BN) rat was anastomosed with the abdominal aorta of another BN ...

Protective effects of astilbin on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats

Journal of Chinese Integrative Medicine:, 2009
To investigate the protective effects of astilbin on renal ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury in rats.Twenty-four male SD rats, two months old, were randomly allocated into three groups: sham-operated group (n=8), untreated group (n=8) and astilbin group (n=8).

Astilbin ameliorates pulmonary fibrosis via blockade of Hedgehog signaling pathway

Pulmonary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2018
The nature of pulmonary fibrosis involves inadequate repair of the epithelial cell barrier accompanied by impaired regulation of the fibroblast. Moreover, pulmonary fibrosis currently lacks an effective therapeutic drug. This study targets the protection of the epithelial cell and fibroblast to identify a novel, potentially therapeutic drug (i.e ...

Astilbin Attenuates Hyperuricemia and Ameliorates Nephropathy in Fructose-Induced Hyperuricemic Rats

Planta Medica, 2011
Astilbin is a flavonoid compound isolated from the rhizome of Smilax china L. The effects and possible mechanisms of astilbin on hyperuricemia and nephropathy rats were elucidated in this study. Different dosages of astilbin (1.25, 2.5, and 5.0 mg/kg) were administered to 10 % fructose-induced hyperuricemic rats.

Astilbin ameliorates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity through reducing oxidative stress and inflammation

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2018
Oxidative stress and inflammation are considered to be the main pathogenesis of cisplatin nephrotoxicity. Astilbin, a flavonoid with anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation function, has been used to treat heavy metal induced kidney injury. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of astilbin on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and its ...
