Abordagens em síntese assimétrica Approaches in asymmetric synthesis

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 1998
The approaches in asymmetric synthesis as the chiron approach, chiral auxiliaries, chiral reagents and asymmetric catalysis are described in a simplified way.

Asymmetric catalysis: An enabling science [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2004
Chirality of organic molecules plays an enormous role in areas ranging from medicine to material science, yet the synthesis of such entities in one enantiomeric form is one of the most difficult challenges. The advances being made stem from the convergence of a broader understanding of theory and how structure begets function, the developments in the ...

Fabrication of Pyridinic Nitrogen‐Functionalized Carbon Cloth for High‐Performance Iron‐Chromium Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The carbon cloth electrode with targeted pyridinic nitrogen doping, achieved via urea pyrolysis, effectively modulates the adsorption of Cr(II) species and enhances electron transfer, leading to significantly improved kinetics of the Cr(II)/Cr(III) reaction. The material demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 689.3 mAh and an energy efficiency of 72.

Advances in asymmetric organocatalysis over the last 10 years

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Organocatalysis has become a major pillar of (asymmetric) catalysis. Here, the authors discuss recent trends in organocatalytic activation modes for challenging stereoselective transformations and the emerging integration with other fields, such as ...

Molybdenum-catalyzed enantioselective sulfoxidation controlled by a nonclassical hydrogen bond between coordinated chiral imidazolium-based dicarboxylate and peroxido ligands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Chiral alkyl aryl sulfoxides were obtained by molybdenum-catalyzed oxidation of alkyl aryl sulfides with hydrogen peroxide as oxidant in mild conditions with high yields and moderate enantioselectivities.

Chiral polymerization: symmetry breaking and entropy production in closed systems

open access: yes, 2011
We solve numerically a kinetic model of chiral polymerization in systems closed to matter and energy flow, paying special emphasis to its ability to amplify the small initial enantiomeric excesses due to the internal and unavoidable statistical ...

Polymer Infiltration Into SURMOF Channels Enables Hydrophobic and Solid‐Like Slippery Functional Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a polymer‐chain insertion strategy to fabricate pore‐threaded MOF thin films with precisely tuned surface chemistry and wettability. Grafting n‐alkane chains into the pillared layer Cu2(bdc)2(dabco) MOF thin film's vertical nanochannels enhances water stability, and induces hydrophobicity and lubricant‐free, solid‐like slippery behavior ...

Enantioselective Organocatalytic Singly Occupied Molecular Orbital Activation: The Enantioselective α-Enolation of Aldehydes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The first enantioselective organocatalytic α-enolation of aldehydes has been accomplished using singly occupied molecular orbital (SOMO) catalysis.

Adaptive Hydrogels With Spatiotemporal Stiffening Using pH‐Modulating Enzymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The chemomechanical coupling in an adaptive hydrogel is studied to further the development of adaptive hydrogels. This coupling is achieved by embedding a pH‐modulating enzyme in a pH‐responsive hydrogel. The enzymatic reaction can be triggered locally, which generates a pH‐decreasing wave throughout the system, increasing the crosslinking density and ...
