Growth models with oblique asymptote

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2013
A class of smooth functions which can be used as regression models for modelling phenomena requiring an oblique asymptote is analyzed. These types of models were defined as a product of a linear function and some well known growth models.

Determination of a point sufficiently close to the asymptote in nonlinear growth functions Determinação de um ponto suficientemente próximo à assíntota em funções de crescimento não lineares [PDF]

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2011
Growth functions with upper horizontal asymptote do not have a maximum point, but we frequently question from which point growth can be considered practically constant, that is, from which point the curve is sufficiently close to its asymptote, so that ...

Asymptotics in an asymptotic CFT

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
Abstract In this work we illustrate the resurgent structure of the λ-deformation; a two-dimensional integrable quantum field theory that has an RG flow with an SU(N)k Wess-Zumino-Witten conformal fixed point in the UV. To do so we use modern matched asymptotic techniques applied to the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz formulation to ...

Asymptotic energy of connected cubic circulant graphs

open access: yesAKCE International Journal of Graphs and Combinatorics, 2021
In this article, we compute the oblique asymptote of the energy function for all connected cubic circulant graphs. Moreover, we show that this oblique asymptote is an upper bound for the energies of two of the subclasses of Möbius ladder graphs and lower

ASYMPTOTIC UNCONDITIONALITY [PDF]

open access: yesThe Quarterly Journal of Mathematics, 2009
We show that a separable real Banach space embeds almost isometrically in a space $Y$ with a shrinking 1-unconditional basis if and only if $\lim_{n \to \infty} \|x^* + x_n^*\| = \lim_{n \to \infty} \|x^* - x_n^*\|$ whenever $x^* \in X^*$, $(x_n^*)$ is a weak$^*$-null sequence and both limits exist. If $X$ is reflexive then $Y$ can be assumed reflexive.

open access: yesMetsanduslikud Uurimused, 2011
The height growth curves of Scotch Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) stands were simulated for stands with initial height asymptote H∞ 15 m, 25 m and 35 m and with linear change p of the potency of growth conditions 0.5% yr-1, 0.2% yr-1, 0.1% yr-1 , -0.2% yr-1 ...

Asymptotic Medicine [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Medical Journal, 2009
Medicine and “ Big Pharma” , as its strongest ally, are rapidly reorienting toward treating the healthy people, which is well reflected in the Ray Moynihan’ s term of disease mongering and Richard Smith’ s list of non-diseases. The most obvious and commonest reasons for this trend are profit (healthy people are more numerous and wealthier than ill ...
