Asymptotic resemblance [PDF]

open access: yesRocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics, 2016
Uniformity and proximity are two different ways for defining small scale structures on a set. Coarse structures are large scale counterparts of uniform structures. In this paper, motivated by the definition of proximity, we develop the concept of asymptotic resemblance as a relation between subsets of a set to define a large scale structure on it.

APPLICATION OF DANDELIN’S THEOREM TO DRAWING CIRCLES IN PARALLEL PERSPECTIVE

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2017
The paper analyses a problem of great theoretical importance in practice of perspective: the nature of the perspective of a circle from the horizontal plane according to the relative position between the spectator plane (parallel to the picture plane ...

Expectile asymptotics

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Statistics, 2016
We discuss in detail the asymptotic distribution of sample expectiles. First, we show uniform consistency under the assumption of a finite mean. In case of a finite second moment, we show that for expectiles other then the mean, only the additional assumption of continuity of the distribution function at the expectile implies asymptotic normality ...

Estimation of Basic Geometric and Hydraulic Characteristics of Natural Torrent Beds

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2020
Many mountainous regions and their watersheds lack the mathematical description of their hydraulic geometry such as the High Tatras region in Slovakia. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to determine the geometric and hydraulic characteristics of natural

Study of coupled states for the (4s^{2})^{1}S + (4s4p)^{3}P asymptote of Ca_{2} [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The coupled states A^{1}\Sigma_{u}^{+} (^{1}D +}1}S), c^{3}\Pi_{u} (^{3}P + ^{1}S) and a^{3}\Sigma_{u}^{+} (^{3}P +}1}S) of the calcium dimer are investigated in a laser induced fluorescence experiment combined with high-resolution Fourier-transform ...

Meanders: exact asymptotics [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2000
We conjecture that meanders are governed by the gravitational version of a c=-4 two-dimensional conformal field theory, allowing for exact predictions for the meander configuration exponent =\sqrt{29}(\sqrt{29}+\sqrt{5})/12, and the semi-meander exponent {\bar }=1+\sqrt{11}(\sqrt{29}+\sqrt{5})/24.

Error analysis of dynamical models in epidemiology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1994
In this paper we conduct the error analysis of two models used to simulate the disease profiles in plant pathogen epidemics.

CURRENT STATES IN AN SNS JUNCTION FOR ARBITRARY THICKNESS OF THE NORMAL LAYER AT TEMPERATURES CLOSE TO CRITICAL

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2003
The behavior of the order parameter close to the superconductor-normal metal interface is researched. The thickness d of the normal layer is arbitrary and the temperature is close to critical.

Is the Tea Bag Index (TBI) Useful for Comparing Decomposition Rates among Soils?

open access: yesEcologies, 2022
The Bag Index (TBI) is a novel approach using standardized materials (i.e., commercial tea bags) to evaluate organic matter decomposition by determining two indexes: the early stage decomposition constant k (k_TBI) and litter stabilization factor S ...

PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF THE ANALYSIS OF THE PROGRESSION CURVES OF FIRST AND PSEUDO-FIRST ORDER REACTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2020
The paper presents a simple method of determining iteratively the progression curve asymptote for first and pseudo-first order reactions. For selected student exercises, thus obtained results were compared (see Supplementary Material) with those found by
