A Rumor-Spreading Model with Three Identical Time Delays

open access: yesMathematics
Understanding the effect of time delays on rumor spreading is of special importance to curbing the spread of rumors. This article proposes a rumor-spreading model with three identical time delays: a delay associated with the negative influence of a ...

Asymptotic speed of spread and traveling waves for a nonlocalepidemic model

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems - B, 2005
The authors consider the following reaction-diffusion system, which describes the dynamics of a nonlocal epidemic disease: \[ \begin{cases} \partial_t u_1 (t,x) = d\Delta u_1 (t,x) - a_{11}u_1 (t,x) + \int_{\mathbb{R}^n} K(x-y) u_2 (t,y)\,dy, \\ \partial_t u_2 (t,x) = - a_{22}u_2 (t,x) + g(u_1 (t,x)),\\ u_1 (0,x) = \phi_1 (x)\geq 0,\;\;\;u_2 (0,x ...

Asymptotic-Preserving Neural Networks for multiscale hyperbolic models of epidemic spread

open access: yesMathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 2022
When investigating epidemic dynamics through differential models, the parameters needed to understand the phenomenon and to simulate forecast scenarios require a delicate calibration phase, often made even more challenging by the scarcity and uncertainty of the observed data reported by official sources.

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Minimal Wave Speed in an Integrodifference System of Predator-Prey Type

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2020
This article studies the minimal wave speed of traveling wave solutions in an integrodifference predator-prey system that does not have the comparison principle. By constructing generalized upper and lower solutions and utilizing the theory of asymptotic

Microscale Patterning of Ultrahigh‐Viscosity Metallic‐Polymer Composites via Embedded Droplet Writing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid additive manufacturing platform integrates direct droplet writing of metallic composite with VAT photopolymerization to fabricate architected soft magnetic composites. This approach enables microscale patterning of high‐viscosity materials for programmable actuators, adaptive fluidic devices, and switchable adhesives, offering tunable ...

Advection and dispersion of bed load tracers [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics, 2018
We use the erosion–deposition model introduced by Charru et al. (2004) to numerically simulate the evolution of a plume of bed load tracers entrained by a steady flow. In this model, the propagation of the plume results from the stochastic exchange of

Aerosol Jet Printing of Benzocyclobutene as a Thermally Stable, Low‐Loss Dielectric for Multilayer Microwave Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Multilayer aerosol jet printed components with a low‐loss, thermally stable dielectric are demonstrated using benzocyclobutene. Ink formulation and in‐line droplet evaporation control support high‐quality, versatile, and stable printing performance. A specialized measurement for low‐loss materials reveals promising microwave properties, which, combined

Modelling the biological invasion of Carcinus maenas (the European green crab)

open access: yesJournal of Biological Dynamics, 2016
This paper proposes a system of integro-difference equations to model the spread of Carcinus maenas, commonly called the European green crab, that causes severe damage to coastal ecosystems. A model with juvenile and adult classes is first studied. Here,

Toward Perception‐Native Electronic Skin: Bio‐Inspired In‐/Near‐Sensor and Neuromorphic Computing for Humanoid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...
