Efficient Synthesis of Narrowly Dispersed Brush Polymers via Living Ring-Opening Metathesis Polymerization of Macromonomers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Various macromonomers (MMs) were efficiently synthesized through the copper-catalyzed “click” coupling of a norbornene moiety to the chain end of poly(methylacrylate), poly(t-butylacrylate), and polystyrene that were prepared using atom transfer radical ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Thermosensitive Nanocables Prepared by Surface-Initiated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2008
Thermosensitive nanocables consisting of Au nanowire cores and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) sheaths (denoted as Au/PNIPAAm) were synthesized by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP).

Polymerization-Induced Self-Assembly for Efficient Fabrication of Biomedical Nanoplatforms

open access: yesResearch, 2023
Amphiphilic copolymers can self-assemble into nano-objects in aqueous solution. However, the self-assembly process is usually performed in a diluted solution (

Effect of mesoporosity on thermal and mechanical properties of polystyrene/silica composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this study, mesoporous or colloidal silica particles were incorporated into polystyrene matrices via melt blending or by styrene polymerization initiated from the particle surface.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Synthesis of a Denitrification Adsorbent with Large Surface Area and Specific Pore Structure for the Removal of Indole from Fuel Oil

open access: yesAdsorption Science & Technology, 2015
We herein report the successful synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) by surface imprinting methods. The synthesized MIPs were subsequently used to selectively adsorb indole from fuel oil.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A versatile platform for precise synthesis of asymmetric molecular brush in one shot

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Producing well-defined polymer compositions and structures facilitates their use in many different applications. Here the authors show the synthesis of well-defined asymmetric double-brushes by a one-pot concurrent atom transfer radical polymerization ...

Biocatalytic “Oxygen‐Fueled” Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2018
AbstractAtom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) can be carried out in a flask completely open to air using a biocatalytic system composed of glucose oxidase (GOx) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) with an active copper catalyst complex. Nanomolar concentrations of the enzymes and ppm amounts of Cu provided excellent control over the polymerization ...
