Predicting synergy in atomic layer etching [PDF]
Atomic layer etching (ALE) is a multistep process used today in manufacturing for removing ultrathin layers of material. In this article, the authors report on ALE of Si, Ge, C, W, GaN, and SiO2 using a directional (anisotropic) plasma-enhanced approach.

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

Despite benefits to storage stability and handleability of aluminum scrap, octadecyl phosphonic acid (ODPA) SAMs reduce the tensile strength of wires produced using friction‐induced recycling. Etching and methyl diphosphonic acid (MDPA) coatings, however, have little effect.

Cyclic etch /passivation-deposition as an all-spatial concept toward high-rate room temperature Atomic Layer Etching [PDF]
Conventional (3D) etching in silicon is often based on the ‘Bosch’ plasma etch with alternating half-cycles of a directional Si-etch and a fluorocarbon polymer passivation. Also shallow feature etching is often based on cycled processing.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Preparation of small silicon carbide quantum dots by wet chemical etching [PDF]
Fabrication of nanosized silicon carbide (SiC) crystals is a crucial step in many biomedical applications. Here we report an effective fabrication method of SiC nanocrystals based on simple electroless wet chemical etching of crystalline cubic SiC ...

Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Dry etching and sputtering [PDF]
Dry etching is an important process for micro- and nanofabrication. Sputtering effects can arise in two contexts within a dry-etch process. Incoming ions cause removal of volatile products that arise from the interaction between the dry-etch plasma and ...

Study of the Pattern Preparation and Performance of the Resistance Grid of Thin-Film Strain Sensors
The thin-film strain sensor is a cutting-force sensor that can be integrated with cutting tools. The quality of the alloy film strain layer resistance grid plays an important role in the performance of the sensor.

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.
