Heme Biosynthesis Factors and 5-ALA Induced Fluorescence: Analysis of mRNA and Protein Expression in Fluorescing and Non-fluorescing Gliomas

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
ObjectiveThe intraoperative visualization of adult-type diffuse gliomas with 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) induced fluorescence is widely used in the neurosurgical field.

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Substrate Specificity of ABCB Transporters Predicted by Docking Simulations Can Be Confirmed by Experimental Tests

open access: yesMolecules
ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, particularly those of subfamily B, are involved in cell detoxification, multidrug resistance, drug treatment pharmacodynamics, and also ecological adaptation.

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

A common variant in the hepatobiliary phospholipid transporter ABCB4 modulates liver injury in PBC but not in PSC: prospective analysis in 867 patients

open access: yesOrphanet Journal of Rare Diseases, 2022
Background The ATP-binding cassette subfamily B member 4 (ABCB4) gene encodes the hepatic phospholipid transporter. Variants in the ABCB4 gene are associated with various cholestatic phenotypes, some of which progress to liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. The

Multidrug resistance-associated protein 1 (MRP1/ABCC1) polymorphism: from discovery to clinical application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Multidrug resistance-associated protein 1 (MRP1/ABCC1) is the first identified member of ABCC subfamily which belongs to ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily.

GPCRs in CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy: Expanding the Target Landscape and Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy faces dual challenges of target scarcity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors. This review highlights how G protein‐coupled receptors can serve as both novel targets to expand the therapeutic scope and functional modules to enhance CAR‐T cell efficacy.

Varicellovirus UL 49.5 proteins differentially affect the function of the transporter associated with antigen processing, TAP [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Cytotoxic T-lymphocytes play an important role in the protection against viral infections, which they detect through the recognition of virus-derived peptides, presented in the context of MHC class I molecules at the surface of the infected cell.

Delineation of the Pasteurellaceae-specific GbpA-family of glutathione-binding proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: The Gram-negative bacterium Haemophilus influenzae is a glutathione auxotroph and acquires the redox-active tripeptide by import. The dedicated glutathione transporter belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC)-transporter superfamily and ...
