ATP Binding Cassette Transporter A1 is Involved in Extracellular Secretion of Acetylated APE1/Ref-1 [PDF]
Acetylation of nuclear apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease-1/redox factor-1 (APE1/Ref-1) is associated with its extracellular secretion, despite the lack of an N-terminal protein secretion signal. In this study, we investigated plasma membrane targeting and translocation of APE1/Ref-1 in HEK293T cells with enhanced acetylation.

Increased protein expression of ABCA1, HMG-CoA reductase, and CYP46A1 induced by garlic and allicin in the brain mouse and astrocytes-isolated from C57BL/6J [PDF]
Objective: Regulation of cholesterol level is essential for the brain optimal function. The beneficial effect of garlic consumption on cholesterol homeostasis is well known; however, the molecular mechanism to support its properties is unclear.

Localization of Human ATP-Binding Cassette Transporter 1 (ABC1) in Normal and Atherosclerotic Tissues [PDF]
Abstract —The present study examines the expression of ATP-binding cassette transporter 1 (ABC1) mRNA in normal and atherosclerotic tissues by using in situ hybridization in an effort to better understand the function of this cholesterol transport protein.

ATP-Binding Cassette Transporter 1 Participates in LDL Oxidation by Artery Wall Cells [PDF]
Objective—We have previously reported that products of the lipoxygenase pathway, hydroperoxyoctadecadienoic acid and hydroperoxyeicosatetraenoic acid, as well as cholesterol linoleate hydroperoxides, collectively termed seeding molecules, are removed by apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) from the artery wall cells and render low density lipoprotein (LDL ...

Nucleotide-Binding Sites of the Heterodimeric LmrCD ABC-Multidrug Transporter of Lactococcus lactis Are Asymmetric [PDF]
LmrCD is a lactococcal, heterodimeric multidrug transporter, which belongs to the ABC superfamily. It consists of two half-transporters, LmrC and LmrD, that are necessary and sufficient for drug extrusion and ATP hydrolysis.
