Ethanol Oxidation on Pd/Au(111) Bimetallic Surfaces in Alkaline Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2013
Catalytic properties of Pd/Au(111) nanostructures obtained by spontaneous palladium deposition using PdSO4 and PdCl2 salts were examined for the oxidation of ethanol in alkaline media. Atomic force microscopy has shown that counter anions in Pd salts are

Enhanced Superconductivity and Rashba Effect in a Buckled Plumbene‐Au Kagome Superstructure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Plumbene, with a structure similar to graphene, is expected to possess a strong spin–orbit coupling and thus enhances its superconducting critical temperature (Tc).

Aharonov-Bohm oscillations in the local density of topological surface states

open access: yes, 2011
We study Aharonov-Bohm (AB) oscillations in the local density of states (LDOS) for topological insulator (TI) and conventional metal Au(111) surfaces with spin-orbit interaction, which can be probed by spin-polarized scanning tunneling microscopy.

Conformations and charge transport characteristics of biphenyldithiol self-assembled-monolayer molecular electronic devices: A multiscale computational study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report a computational study of conformations and charge transport characteristics of biphenyldithiol (BPDT) monolayers in the (sqrt(3)×sqrt(3))R30° packing ratio sandwiched between Au(111) electrodes. From force-field molecular-dynamics and annealing

Acoustic Plasmon on the Au(111) Surface

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2010
We report an acoustic surface plasmon mode on the Au(111) surface, which disperses into the visible region, as measured by high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy. The new mode is assigned to an acoustic surface plasmon arising from the Shockley-type surface state electrons and coexists with the conventional surface plasmon.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

GRPR-Antagonists Carrying DOTAGA-Chelator via Positively Charged Linkers: Perspectives for Prostate Cancer Theranostics

open access: yesPharmaceutics
Gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR)-antagonists have served as motifs in the development of theranostic radioligands for prostate cancer. Our efforts have been focused on the development of radiolabeled RM26 (H-DPhe6–Gln7–Trp8–Ala9–Val10–Gly11 ...

Adsorption of 5-Fluorouracil on Au(111) and Cu(111) surfaces

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
The adsorption of 5-Fluorouracil (5FU) on Au(111) and Cu(111) surfaces as a function of molecular coverage and temperature has been studied, using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy.

Silicene Like Domains on IrSi3 Crystallites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Recently, silicene, the graphene equivalent of silicon, has attracted a lot of attention due to its compatibility with Si-based electronics. So far, silicene has been epitaxy grown on various crystalline surfaces such as Ag(110), Ag(111), Ir(111), ZrB2 ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
