Chirality Selection in Open Flow Systems and in Polymerization

open access: yes, 2005
As an attempt to understand the homochirality of organic molecules in life, a chemical reaction model is proposed where the production of chiral monomers from achiral substrate is catalyzed by the polymers of the same enatiomeric type. This system has to

Mechano-chemical dynamics of active gels: interplay between spatial bistability and volume variations

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2011
The mechano-chemical dynamics of a spherical bead of gel immersed in an autocatalytic bistable chemical reaction are examined. The spheres exhibit autonomous volume self-oscillation dynamics.

Recycling‐Induced Changes of Molecular Weight and Structural Properties in PET Monopolymer Blends

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
The present study investigates the molecular weight, thermal, rheological, and mechanical properties of polymer blends of high and low molecular weight polyethylene terephthalate (PET) components. The research reveals that extrusion processing influences chain scission and chain extension, inhibiting the broadening of the molecular weight distribution ...

Computational role of the heat transfer phenomenon in the reactive dynamics of catalytic nanolubricant flow past a horizontal microchannel

open access: yesApplied Rheology
A numerical simulation is conducted to examine the impact of heat source on reactive dynamics of catalytic nanolubricant flow through a horizontal microchannel with convective boundary conditions.

Gene‐specific double‐stranded RNAs induce mortality in the South African mealybug Delottococcus aberiae

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Gene‐specific double‐stranded RNAs effectively silence essential genes in the invasive citrus pest Delottococcus aberiae, leading to significant mortality through both microinjection and oral delivery. These results provide proof of concept for RNA interference‐based biopesticides as selective and sustainable tools for citrus integrated pest management.

Sequence selection in an autocatalytic binary polymer model

open access: yes, 2013
An autocatalytic pattern matching polymer system is studied as an abstract model for chemical ecosystem evolution. Highly ordered populations with particular sequence patterns appear spontaneously out of a vast number of possible states.

Investigation of the Reoxidation and Material Behavior of Directly Reduced Pellets and Fines Under Simulated Rail Transport Conditions

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The study investigates the reoxidation behavior of DRI pellets (Midrex and H2‐reduced) under realistic conditions, considering the test parameters of temperature, humidity, storage duration, particle size (including fine fraction), and container geometry. The samples are analyzed based on mass changes.

Tumor Site‐Specific In Vivo Theranostics Enabled by Microenvironment‐Dependent Chemical Transformation and Self‐Amplifying Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Precise tumor diagnosis and treatment remain complex challenges. While numerous fluorescent probes have been developed for tumor‐specific imaging and therapy, few exhibit effective function in vivo.

Copper-catalysed autocatalytic reactions

open access: yes, 2021
The work contained within this thesis describes the development and study of self-reproducing systems, created from simple chemical building blocks, that exhibit emergent, life-like properties. Several different autocatalytic systems that are driven by copper-catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions are reported.

Coarse‐Grained Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Oxidative Aging and Stabilization in Polymer Melts With Primary Antioxidants: Effects of Antioxidant Concentration and Molecular Architecture

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
Antioxidant type and concentration govern both the rate and spatial heterogeneity of oxidative aging in polymer melts. Higher antioxidant‐group concentration prolongs the induction and reaction time scales, while the BHT‐type antioxidant provides stronger and more homogeneous stabilization than the Irganox1010‐type antioxidant because of its more ...
