Autolysis of Neisseria gonorrhoeae [PDF]
Physiological conditions that would provide maximal rates of autolysis of Neisseria gonorrhoeae were examined. Autolysis was found to occur over a broad pH range with the optimum at pH 9.0 IN 0.05 M tris(hydroxymethyl)amino-methane-maleate buffer. The temperature optimum was found to be 40 C.

Acinar autolysis and mucous extravasation in human sublingual glands: a microscopic postmortem study
Although some morphological investigations on aged human sublingual glands (HSG) found eventual phenomena identified as autolysis and mucous extravasation, the exact meaning of these findings has not been elucidated. Objective The aim of this work is to ...

Involvement of Autolysis of Cytoplasmic Membranes in the Process of Autolysis of Bacillus cereus [PDF]
SUMMARY: When exponentially growing Bacillus cereus organisms were suspended in buffer or buffered hypertonic sucrose solution and incubated at 37°, a rapid decrease in turbidity of the suspension was observed (autolysis). During autolysis ultraviolet-absorbing substances leaked from the bacteria and over 50% of the total phospholipids was released. Of

The impact of puffball autolysis on selected chemical and biological properties: Puffball extracts as potential ingredients of skin-care products [PDF]
Puffballs are fungi that produce globose fruiting bodies that undergo autolysis, transforming their insides into a spore bearing, powdery mass. Mature fruiting bodies are traditionally used to treat open skin wounds.

Autolysis Process of Shrimp By-products and Identification of Potential Antifreeze Peptides
In order to strengthen the high-value processing and utilization of marine by-products, shrimp by-products were used in this study. The autolysis reaction was carried out in a water bath at 50 ℃ and pH(7.81~7.83), then the enzymatic hydrolysate was ...

Autolysis Of The Gonococcus [PDF]
ment was destructive to a number of species of micro-organisms, among which was included the gonococcus. Flexner2 demonstrated that the vitality of the meningococcus was very materially lessened and the germs themselves partially dissolved when they were allowed to remain in suspension in salt solution. He found the products of the disintegration to be

Promotion of autolysis in lactobacilli.
The conditions of promotion of autolysis of three strains of Lactobacilli were investigated. The autolysis of L. acidophilus, L. helveticus and L. casei at exponential phase was remarkably enhanced by freezing storage at −20°C overnight. The turbidity decrease of L. acidophilus’ cell suspension corresponds to the increase of cell free nitrogen compounds,

Treatment of Leptothrix Cells with Ultrapure Water Poses a Threat to Their Viability
The genus Leptothrix, a type of Fe/Mn-oxidizing bacteria, is characterized by its formation of an extracellular and microtubular sheath. Although almost all sheaths harvested from natural aquatic environments are hollow, a few chained bacterial cells are
