Autolysis of Neisseria gonorrhoeae [PDF]
Autolysis of Neisseria gonorrhoeae was studied under different conditions. It was found that low pH and temperature, as well as the presence of divalent cations, spermine, sucrose, and polyvinylpyrrolidone, stabilized nongrowing gonococci. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid alone promoted lysis, whereas lysozyme had only a limited additive effect.

Transcriptome analysis of genes associated with autolysis of Coprinus comatus
Coprinus comatus, widely known as “Jituigu”, is an important commodity and food in China. The yield of C. comatus, however, is substantially reduced by the autolysis of the fruiting bodies after harvest.

DNA builds and strengthens the extracellular matrix in Myxococcus xanthus biofilms by interacting with exopolysaccharides. [PDF]
One intriguing discovery in modern microbiology is the extensive presence of extracellular DNA (eDNA) within biofilms of various bacterial species. Although several biological functions have been suggested for eDNA, including involvement in biofilm ...

The impact of puffball autolysis on selected chemical and biological properties: Puffball extracts as potential ingredients of skin-care products [PDF]
Puffballs are fungi that produce globose fruiting bodies that undergo autolysis, transforming their insides into a spore bearing, powdery mass. Mature fruiting bodies are traditionally used to treat open skin wounds.
