Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

ENUMERATION AND DECIDABLE PROPERTIES OF AUTOMATIC SEQUENCES [PDF]
We show that various aspects of k-automatic sequences — such as having an unbordered factor of length n — are both decidable and effectively enumerable. As a consequence it follows that many related sequences are either k-automatic or k-regular. These include many sequences previously studied in the literature, such as the recurrence function, the ...

Knowing what to respond in the future does not cancel the influence of past events. [PDF]
Everyday tasks seldom involve isolate actions but sequences of them. We can see whether previous actions influence the current one by exploring the response time to controlled sequences of stimuli.

Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Limit sets of automatic sequences
The authors study the limit sets of multidimensional automatic sequences. For a finite set with a distinguished element \(s_0\), consider an \(\ell\)-dimensional sequence \(f\) in \(S^{\mathbb{N}^\ell}\). A sequence \((t_n)\in\mathbb{N}^{\mathbb{N}}\) is a scaling sequence, if \(({1\over t_n} X(f,t_n))\) is a Cauchy sequence with respect to the ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Segmentation of Pathology in Tumor-Diseased Brains
Automatic segmentation of multiple sclerosis lesions in magnetic resonance images remains a challenging task. In this study, we present a fully automatic method to extract lesions from multi-sequence MRI (T1, T2, T2 FLAIR, Proton Density) within an ...

Recently, manual observation sequence has been gradually replaced by automatic observation sequence. The difference between manual observation sequence and automatic observation sequence is somewhat inevitable. This challenges the the homogeneity and the

A review on assembly sequence planning and assembly line balancing optimisation using soft computing approaches [PDF]
Assembly optimisation activities occur across development and production stages of manufacturing goods. Assembly Sequence Planning (ASP) and Assembly Line Balancing (ALB) problems are among the assembly optimisation.
