Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

A novel linear predictive control approach for auxiliary energy supply to a solar thermal combistorage

open access: yes, 2014
This paper presents and investigates a novel, hybrid model predictive approach to control the auxiliary heating for a combistorage. Faulty design, as well as suitable design schemes cause situations in which solar energy supply has to “compete against ...

Optimization of an Auxiliary Biomass Heating System in Solar Greenhouses: A CFD and Machine Learning Approach

open access: yesAgriculture
Maintaining adequate root-zone temperature in solar greenhouses during extreme cold is crucial for crop production. This study investigated the optimization of an auxiliary biomass heating system in a solar greenhouse.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Modelling Auxiliary Features in Tandem Systems [PDF]

open access: yes
Tandem systems transform the cepstral features into posterior probabilities of subword units using artificial neural networks (ANNs), which are processed to form input features for conventional speech recognition systems.

Monte Carlo filtering of piecewise deterministic processes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present efficient Monte Carlo algorithms for performing Bayesian inference in a broad class of models: those in which the distributions of interest may be represented by time marginals of continuous-time jump processes conditional on a realisation of

Robust Backstepping Control of Wing Rock Using Disturbance Observer

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Wing rock is a highly nonlinear phenomenon when the aircraft suffers undesired roll-dominated oscillatory at high angle of attack (AOA). Considering the strong nonlinear and unsteady aerodynamic characteristics, an uncertain multi-input and multi-output (

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Auxiliary-state-driven fuzzy controller for nonlinear systems based on TS-fuzzy-model-based approach

open access: yes, 2007
This paper investigates the system stability of fuzzy-model-based control system. An auxiliary-state-driven fuzzy controller is proposed to deal with nonlinear systems.
