High-speed imaging and wavefront sensing with an infrared avalanche photodiode array [PDF]
Infrared avalanche photodiode arrays represent a panacea for many branches of astronomy by enabling extremely low-noise, high-speed and even photon-counting measurements at near-infrared wavelengths.

Breaking the Buildup-time Limit of sensitivity in Avalanche Photodiodes by Dynamic Biasing [PDF]
Avalanche photodiodes (APDs) are the preferred photodetectors for direct-detection, high data-rate long-haul optical telecommunications. APDs can detect low-level optical signals due to their internal amplification of the photon-generated electrical ...

Infrared Avalanche Photodiode Detectors
This study presents on the design, fabrication and characteristics of HgCdTe mid-wave infrared avalanche photodiode (MWIR APD). The gain of 800 at - 8 V bias is measured in n+-ν-p+ detector array with pitch size of 30 μm. The gain independent bandwidth of 6 MHz is achieved in the fabricated device.

Multi-Gain-Stage InGaAs Avalanche Photodiode With Enhanced Gain and Reduced Excess Noise
We report the design, fabrication, and test of an InGaAs avalanche photodiode (APD) for 950–1650 nm wavelength sensing applications. The APD is grown by molecular beam epitaxy on InP substrates from lattice-matched InGaAs and InAlAs alloys ...
