THE AXIS OF ASTIGMATISM. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1905
Twelve years ago 1 I presented some views on the axis of astigmatism. Those views consisted partly of propositions to be verified or denied by experience, partly of facts as developed in my practice. I set forth the initial proposition that the axis of astigmatism does not occur at haphazard, that there is a regularity in its occurrence in a given eye,

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Interleukin‐10 promoter polymorphisms and haplotypes in patients with Guillain–Barré syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology
Objective Interleukin‐10 (IL‐10) is a multifunctional cytokine that exerts both pro‐ and anti‐inflammatory effects on the immune system as well as in the pathogenesis of Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS).

Mentalitások és tapasztalatok a Károlyi család fóti szociális tevékenységében (1920–1949)

open access: yesAxis
Nemes lelkületű patronálás vagy a szociális különbségek tudatos fenntartása? Áldozatos, keresztény elhivatottság vagy csak az unatkozó úrhölgyek jótékonykodása?

A self-consistent quantal description of high-K states in the tilted-axis cranking model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
A self-consistent and quantal description of high-$K$ bands is given in the framework of the tilted-axis cranking model. (With a $\theta=90^{\circ}$ tilt angle with respect to $x$-axis, this cranking model is equivalent to the $z$-axis cranking.) The ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Off-axis coherently pumped laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
A coherently optically pumped laser system is described. A pump laser beam propagates through a laser medium contained in a degenerate cavity resonator in a controlled multiple round trip fashion in such a way that the unused pump beam emerges from an ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Life Satisfaction and mobility: Their associations with career attitudes, and health-related factors among postgraduates having studied in universities intra EU and outside EU

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2020
Background University postgraduates’ mobility towards, and outside the EU is continuously increasing, creating a competitive context in which maintaining a high life satisfaction (LS) is a public health challenge. However, the relationship between LS and

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
