The Bacillus subtilis signaling protein SpoIVB defines a new family of serine peptidases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The protein SpoIVB plays a key role in signaling in the sigma (K) checkpoint of Bacillus subtilis. This regulatory mechanism coordinates late gene expression during development in this organism and we have recently shown SpoIVB to be a serine peptidase ...

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Cooperative Photometallobiocatalysis: Nonheme Fe Enzyme‐Catalyzed Enantioconvergent Radical Decarboxylative Azidation, Thiocyanation, and Isocyanation of Redox‐Active Esters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Through the directed evolution of an underexploited nonheme Fe extradiol dioxygenase, we developed a unified cooperative photobiocatalytic strategy to allow for three types of enantioconvergent radical transformations, including azidation, thiocyanation, and isocyanation.

Necessary and sufficient condition for hysteresis in the mathematical model of the cell type regulation of Bacillus subtilis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The key to a robust life system is to ensure that each cell population is maintained in an appropriate state. In this work, a mathematical model was used to investigate the control of the switching between the migrating and non-migrating states of the Bacillus subtilis cell population.

alpha-helix E of Spo0A is required for sigma(A)- but not for sigma(H)-dependent promoter activation in Bacillus subtilis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
At the onset of endospore formation in Bacillus subtilis, the DNA binding protein Spo0A activates transcription from two types of promoters. The first type includes the spoIIG and spoIIE promoters, which are used by sigma(A)-RNA polymerase, whereas the ...

Innovative Integration of Layered Carbon Materials in Biopolymer Fibrous Membranes for Sustainable Water Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This review explores the progressive design of biopolymer‐based fibrous membranes enhanced with layered carbon materials such as MXene, graphene oxide, and carbon nanotubes. It highlights how their integration significantly boosts water filtration performance, selectivity, and antifouling properties.

EVALUASI LIMA JENIS INNER CARRIER DAN FORMULASI BACILLUS SUBTILIS UNTUK PENGENDALIAN HAWAR PELEPAH JAGUNG (RHIZOCTONIA SOLANI KUHN)

open access: yesJurnal Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan Tropika, 2016
Evaluation of five inner carriers and Bacillus subtilis formulation to control banded leaf and sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn). One alternative control method against plant pathogens is the use of antagonistic microorganisms, such as Bacillus ...

Noise expands the response range of the Bacillus subtilis competence circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Gene regulatory circuits must contend with intrinsic noise that arises due to finite numbers of proteins. While some circuits act to reduce this noise, others appear to exploit it. A striking example is the competence circuit in Bacillus subtilis, which exhibits much larger noise in the duration of its competence events than a synthetically constructed

Mobility of core water in Bacillus subtilis spores by $^2$H NMR [PDF]

open access: yesBiophys. J. 105, 2016--2023 (2013), 2013
Bacterial spores in a metabolically dormant state can survive long periods without nutrients under extreme environmental conditions. The molecular basis of spore dormancy is not well understood, but the distribution and physical state of water within the spore is thought to play an important role.
