Strawberry bacterial angular leaf spot (ALS) disease, caused by Xanthomonas fragariae has become increasingly problematic in the strawberry agro-industry. ALS causes small angular water-soaked lesions to develop on the abaxial leaf surface. Studies reported optimum temperature conditions for X.

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Characterization of IS476 and its role in bacterial spot disease of tomato and pepper
IS476 is an endogenous insertion sequence present in copper-tolerant strains of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria. Sequence analysis has revealed that the element is 1,225 base pairs in length, has 26-base-pair inverted repeats, and causes a 4-base-pair target site duplication upon insertion into the avirulence gene avrBs1.

Heirloom Dry Bean Variety Trial [PDF]
Dry beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), a high-protein pulse crop, have been grown in the Northeast since the 1800’s. As the local food movement continues to diversify and expand, consumers are asking stores to carry more and more locally-produced foods, and dry

Bacterial Spot of Tomato Caused by Xanthomonas perforans, a New Disease in Korea
In July 2007, a leaf spot was observed on seedlings of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) in a commercial greenhouse in Sungju County, Korea. Symptoms were dark, circular-to-irregular, water-soaked spots surrounded by chlorotic halos. Affected leaves turned yellow and readily detached.
