Transport and Bacterial Interactions of Three Bacterial Strains in Saturated Column Experiments

Environmental Science & Technology, 2011
The impact of bacteria-solid and bacteria-bacteria interactions on the transport of Klebsiella oxytoca, Burkholderia cepacia G4PR1, and Pseudomonas sp. #5 was investigated in saturated sand column experiments (L = 114 mm; ø = 33 mm) under constant water velocities (∼ 5 cm · h(-1)).

STRAIN, a computer program for storing information about bacterial strains

Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1982
A FORTRAN computer program has been written which facilitates the storage of a large number of bacterial strains and their markers. With this program one can easily store, delete, add, and change data on strains and their markers and search for strains harboring desired markers.

Statistical sampling of bacterial strains and its use in bacterial diversity measurement

Microbial Ecology, 1982
The cultural bacterial strains of two sediment samples, i.e., 260 strains, were submitted to numerical taxonomy to determine "ecological profiles." From these profiles several calculations of bacterial diversity were done with increasing number of strains (between 10 and 130).

Assemblies of 76 bacterial strains

2023
We picked 76 bacterial strains, belonging to 5 phyla, from CGR2 project. Genome sequencing by BGI-500 produced high-quality genome reads, and finally we acquired genome assemblies by bioinformatic softwares.

Toxigenic bacterial diarrhea: Nursery outbreak involving multiple bacterial strains

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1976
An outbreak of watery diarrhea occurred in 14 of 15 infants in a special care unit over a four-day period. Using the CHO cell assay for enterotoxin, we found that 11 of these patients had toxigenic bacteria in their stools. These bacteria comprised nine different serotypes of three species of organisms: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and Citrobacter ...

Lysis of Antarctic algal strains by bacterial pathogen

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 2014
The present paper describes the isolation, physiological and genetic characteristic of a bacterial agent which inhibits the growth of algae and causes death of laboratory cultures of Antarctic microalgal strains: prokaryotic cyanobacteria Synechocystis salina and green eukaryotic microalga Choricistis minor.

Therapeutic strategies and emergence of multiresistant bacterial strains

Internal and Emergency Medicine, 2010
Spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is one of the most serious complications occurring in cirrhotic patients with ascites. Therefore, an effective therapy is always required starting immediately after diagnosis. There are three aims of therapy: (1) to eradicate the bacterial strain responsible of the infection; (2) to prevent renal failure; and (3)

BACTERIAL STRAIN AND BACTERIAL MIXTURE WITH A FUCANOLYTIC ACTIVITY

2018
The present invention relates to a bacterial strain producing enzymes with fucanolytic activity, a bacterial mixture comprising said strain, the use of said strain or a bacterial mixture comprising it for the production of enzymes with fucanolytic activity, the enzymes obtained by culturing said strain or bacterial mixture comprising it, a process for ...

Molecular identification of bacterial endosymbionts of Sappinia strains

Parasitology Research, 2016
The genus Sappinia comprises free-living amoebae occurring worldwide in a variety of habitats such as soils, plant matter and freshwater ponds, but also animal faeces, and includes at present three species, S. pedata, S. diploidea and S. platani. The genus is potentially pathogenic, as indicated by the identification of S.

Probiotic Bacterial and Fungal Strains: Claims with Evidence

Digestive Diseases, 2016
Background: Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit for the host. This review summarizes current (i.e. published in the last 5 years) key evidence on probiotic efficacy and its safety in adults and children.
