Treatability of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Contaminant Candidate List Viruses: Removal of Coxsackievirus and Echovirus using Enhanced Coagulation [PDF]
Enhanced coagulation was evaluated for removal efficacy of coxsackievirus and echovirus (Contaminant Candidate List [CCL] enteroviruses), poliovirus, four potential surrogate bacteriophages, and dissolved organic carbon (DOC).

Direct Electron Microscopy Study on the Morphological Diversity of Bacteriophage Populations in Lake Plußsee [PDF]
Direct electron microscopy of bacteriophages adsorbed to a carbon film without prior enrichment by specific host strains or concentration by physical or chemical methods was used to study the morphological diversity of natural bacteriophage assemblages ...

Inhibition of DNA ejection from bacteriophage by Mg+2 counterions
The problem of inhibiting viral DNA ejection from bacteriophages by multivalent counterions, specifically Mg$^{+2}$ counterions, is studied. Experimentally, it is known that MgSO$_4$ salt has a strong and non-monotonic effect on the amount of DNA ejected.

Bacteriophages—a new hope or a huge problem in the food industry
Bacteriophages are viruses that are ubiquitous in nature and infect only bacterial cells. These organisms are characterized by high specificity, an important feature that enables their use in the food industry.

A Sustainable Biotechnology Approach for Mineral Separation
Silver‑binding peptides are first identified through phage‐display screening, and then engineered into multifunctional and responsive peptides or proteins. These tailored biomolecules can selectively capture and aggregate silver particles or ions from complex mixtures, enabling rapid and efficient silver separation and recovery.

More than Simple Parasites: the Sociobiology of Bacteriophages and Their Bacterial Hosts
Bacteria harbor viruses called bacteriophages that, like all viruses, co-opt the host cellular machinery to replicate. Although this relationship is at first glance parasitic, there are social interactions among and between bacteriophages and their ...

Bacteriophages: Protagonists of a Post-Antibiotic Era
Despite their long success for more than half a century, antibiotics are currently under the spotlight due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant bacteria.

This study presents an injectable hydrogel that responds to Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection by releasing a dual‐phage cocktail on demand. The system degrades selectively in infected wounds, enhances phage localization and stability, and shows potent antibiofilm activity and biocompatibility in an ex vivo human skin model—offering a promising strategy ...
