VPS72 overexpression activates mTORC1 signaling, subsequently promoting lipid synthesis and driving HCC progression. VPS72 modulates the epigenetic landscape of ATF3 promoter, such as H2A.Z acetylation reduction and DNA methylation increase, which results in ATF3 repression and subsequent activation of mTORC1.

A Precision Microbiome Approach Using Sucrose for Selective Augmentation of Staphylococcus epidermidis Fermentation against Propionibacterium acnes. [PDF]
Acne dysbiosis happens when there is a microbial imbalance of the over-growth of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) in the acne microbiome. In our previous study, we demonstrated that Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis, a probiotic skin bacterium)

Low‐Irradiance Antimicrobial Blue Light‐Bathing Therapy for Wound Infection Control
Antimicrobial blue light has been shown as an appealing non‐pharmacological antimicrobial alternative. However, its clinical applications have been hindered by high irradiance‐associated photothermal risks. In this work, a low‐irradiance blue light‐bathing concept and a wearable photonic wound patch are established to address this challenge in terms of

Structural and Biochemical Characterization of a Widespread Enterobacterial Peroxidase Encapsulin
Encapsulins are self‐assembling bacterial protein compartments loaded with cargo enzymes. The most abundant encapsulin cargo class are Dye‐decolorizing Peroxidases (DyPs). In this study, we structurally and biochemically characterize a DyP encapsulin found in many enterobacteria.

Testing for Subcellular Randomness [PDF]
Statistical tests were conducted on 1,000 numbers generated from the genome of Bacteriophage T4, obtained from GenBank with accession number AF158101.The numbers passed the non-parametric, distribution-free tests.Deoxyribonucleic acid was discovered to be a random number generator, existent in nature.

DNA driven self-assembly of micron-sized rods using DNA-grafted bacteriophage fd virions [PDF]
We have functionalized the sides of fd bacteriophage virions with oligonucleotides to induce DNA hybridization driven self-assembly of high aspect ratio filamentous particles. Potential impacts of this new structure range from an entirely new building block in DNA origami structures, inclusion of virions in DNA nanostructures and nanomachines, to a new

DNA content of a functioning chicken kinetochore [PDF]
© The Author(s) 2014. In order to understand the three-dimensional structure of the functional kinetochore in vertebrates, we require a complete list and stoichiometry for the protein components of the kinetochore, which can be provided by genetic and ...

Small RNA Toxin‐Assisted Evolution of GC‐Preferred ErCas12a for Enhanced Genome Targeting Range
ErCas12a is engineered to target GC‐rich PAMs using a small RNA toxin‐aided positive screening system. The resulting variant, enErCas12a, exhibits an expanded PAM profile and facilitates efficient gene editing in both bacterial and mammalian cells, while preserving high targeting specificity for both canonical and non‐canonical PAM targets.
