Identification of pre-synaptic processing proteins from bacteroides fragilis [PDF]
The repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) is required for the survival of all organisms. In bacteria, DNA DSBs can occur during normal housekeeping processes such as DNA replication or by exogenous damage due to chemicals or radiation.

Aggregation by fragilis and non-fragilis Bacteroides strains in vitro [PDF]
Bacteroides fragilis is associated with the formation of intra-abdominal abscesses, whereas other Bacteroides species are rarely involved. Since bacterial clumping may contribute to the survival of bacteria in the face of host defence mechanisms, the hypothesis has been put forward that differences in aggregation between fragilis and non-fragilis ...

Clostridium scindens and its metabolite indole‐3‐acetic acid (IAA) are identified as a keystone taxon and metabolic signature in centenarians. Clostridium scindens enhances microbial network stability and produces IAA via its own amidase (AMIE) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), thus promoting intestinal homeostasis by activating the aryl hydrocarbon ...

In Vitro Evaluation of Propolis Effects on Bacteroides fragilis Toxin-mediated Inflammatory Pathways
Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a significant global health concern because of its increasing incidence and mortality rates. Chronic intestinal inflammation is a critical driver in the pathogenesis of CRC, particularly in individuals with inflammatory ...

The role of human microbiota in breast cancer pathogenesis and treatment
The human microbiota contributes to breast cancer pathogenesis and treatment response through interactions involving the oral, gut, and breast microbial niches. (Left) Multi‐site dysbiosis is characterized by altered microbial composition and abundance across different anatomical sites.

Horizontal gene transfer in Bacteroides fragilis [PDF]
Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is one of the man driving forces of evolution in prokaryotes, and can also promote within-strain variation of bacterial species.

Human nutrition, Bacteroides fragilis and the immune system [PDF]

Characterization of a Multidrug-Resistant, Novel Bacteroides Genomospecies
Metronidazole- and carbapenem-resistant Bacteroides fragilis are rare in the United States. We isolated a multidrug-resistant anaerobe from the bloodstream and intraabdominal abscesses of a patient who had traveled to India.

Serogrouping of Bacteroides fragilis subsp. fragilis by the agglutination test [PDF]
The agglutination technique was used to establish a serological classification scheme for 98 strains of Bacteroides fragilis subsp. fragilis isolated from clinical specimens and normal human feces. Absorbed antisera were prepared to seven strains of B. fragilis subsp. fragilis.

Bacteroides fragilis is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) arterial calcification and can be activated by macrophage‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). BF takes up EVs via receptor‐mediated endocytosis, and activation is induced by EV‐derived Mef2d, thereby inhibiting ArsR family transcriptional regulator transcription.
