Analysis of the Zinc Finger Domain of TnpA, a DNA Targeting Protein Encoded by Mobilizable Transposon Tn4555 [PDF]
The mobilizable transposon Tn4555, found in Bacteroides spp., is an important antibiotic resistance element encoding a broad spectrum beta-lactamase. Tn4555 is mobilized by conjugative transposons such as CTn341 which can transfer the transposon to a ...

Bacterial Outer Membrane Vesicles in Potentiating Cancer Vaccines: Progress and Prospects
Bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) have emerged as versatile platforms for cancer vaccine development owing to their intrinsic immunostimulatory properties and high engineering flexibility. This review summarizes OMV biology, immune mechanisms, and engineering strategies that enhance vaccine efficacy, discusses key translational challenges, and ...

Isolation and characterization of two chondroitin lyases from Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron [PDF]
Two chondroitin lyases were isolated from the colon anaerobe Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron. Both enzymes had similar molecular weights (104,000 and 108,000) and similar isoelectric points (8.0 and 7.9, respectively). Both enzymes were active against chondroitin sulfates A, B, and C and unsulfated polysaccharides, such as chondroitin and hyaluronic acid,

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CQPC03 could reduce carrageenan‐induced thrombosis in mice. ABSTRACT This investigation reports the effects of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CQPC03 (LP‐CQPC03) on preventing thrombus formation and reducing intestinal oxidative stress and inflammation in a carrageenan‐induced mouse thrombosis model. High‐throughput 16S rRNA

Colonial variation, capsule formation, and bacteriophage resistance in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron [PDF]
A Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron strain segregated two unstable colonial variants at high frequency. There is a correlation between colony morphology, encapsulation, Giemsa staining, and bacteriophage resistance.

Evaluation of FilmArray Multiplex PCR Test Results in Bloodstream Infections in Oncological Patients
In this study conducted at an oncology hospital, BCID2 panel results for the rapid identification of microorganisms and resistance genes in positive blood culture samples were compared with conventional culture methods. The BCID2 panel provided faster results and showed a high correlation with traditional methods.

ABSTRACT Rapid advances in microbiome research are transforming our understanding of human health and disease, with growing focus on the female reproductive tract as a critical but understudied niche. Evidence for a local microbiome largely derives from bacterial nucleic acid detection; however, the biological relevance of these signals remains debated,
