Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Dynamics of BAF–Polycomb complex opposition on heterochromatin in normal and oncogenic states [PDF]

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2016
The opposition between Polycomb repressive complexes (PRCs) and BAF (mSWI/SNF) complexes has a critical role in both development and disease. Mutations in the genes encoding BAF subunits contribute to more than 20% of human malignancies, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, owing largely to a lack of assays to assess BAF function in living ...

Structural disruption of BAF chromatin remodeller impairs neuroblastoma metastasis by reverting an invasiveness epigenomic program

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2022
Background Epigenetic programming during development is essential for determining cell lineages, and alterations in this programming contribute to the initiation of embryonal tumour development.

Insights Into the Emerging Role of Baf53b in Autism Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2022
Accurate and precise regulation of gene expression is necessary to ensure proper brain development and plasticity across the lifespan. As an ATP-dependent chromatin-remodeling complex, the BAF (Brg1 Associated Factor) complex can alter histone-DNA ...

A liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method for simultaneous analysis of 46 atmospheric particulate-phase persistent organic pollutants and comparison with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A novel multi-analyte method for the simultaneous determination of 46 compounds of environmental concern, most of them belonging to the category of persistent organic pollutants, was developed using high-performance liquid chromatography and the results ...

Mechanoadaptation via Myosin Cytoplasmic Redistribution Protects Circulating Tumor Cells From Shear‐induced Death During Hematogenous Dissemination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how CTCs survive varying shear stress during hematogenous metastasis. We uncover a self‐protection mechanism, by which non‐adherent CTCs adapt to high shearing milieu through accumulated cytoplasmic myosin‐mediated disruption of myosin‐actin binding, attenuating force transmission into chromatin to protect CTCs from shear ...

The chromatin landscape of primary synovial sarcoma organoids is linked to specific epigenetic mechanisms and dependencies

open access: yesLife Science Alliance, 2021
We have addressed the mechanisms by which the fusion protein SS18-SSX modifies the epigenome toward the development of synovial sarcoma and the establishment of its potentially targetable vulnerabilities.

Zeroth order regular approximation approach to electric dipole moment interactions of the electron

open access: yes, 2017
A quasi-relativistic two-component approach for an efficient calculation of $\mathcal{P,T}$-odd interactions caused by a permanent electric dipole moment of the electron (eEDM) is presented. The approach uses a (two-component) complex generalized Hartree-

Integrating Smart Ceiling Fans and Communicating Thermostats to Provide Energy-Efficient Comfort [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The project goal was to identify and test the integration of smart ceiling fans and communicating thermostats. These highly efficient ceiling fans use as much power as an LED light bulb and have onboard temperature and occupancy sensors for automatic ...

Effector Caspase Dcp-1 and IAP Protein Bruce Regulate Starvation-Induced Autophagy during Drosophila Melanogaster Oogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A complex relationship exists between autophagy and apoptosis, but the regulatory mechanisms underlying their interactions are largely unknown. We conducted a systematic study of Drosophila melanogaster cell death–related genes to determine their ...
