Dietary Baicalin Supplementation Can Enhance the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets and Maintain the Intestinal Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.

Inhibition of baicalin on metabolism of phenacetin, a probe of CYP1A2, in human liver microsomes and in rats.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Baicalin has been used as mainly bioactive constituent of about 100 kinds of traditional Chinese medicines in Chinese pharmacopoeia. The effect of baicalin on cytochrome P450 should be paid more attention because baicalin was used widely. The aim of this

Danshen-Chuanxiong-Honghua Ameliorates Cerebral Impairment and Improves Spatial Cognitive Deficits after Transient Focal Ischemia and Identification of Active Compounds. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Previously, we only apply a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Danshen-Chuanxiong-Honghua (DCH) for cardioprotection via anti-inflammation in rats of acute myocardial infarction by occluding coronary artery. Presently, we select not only DCH but also its

Harnessing nanomaterials to precisely regulate the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment for enhanced immunotherapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, characterized by hypoxia, redox imbalance, elevated interstitial fluid pressure, and acidity, was comprehensively elucidated. This review discussed the etiology and consequences of the characteristics of the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and analyzed the recent advancements in nanomaterials for ...

Consecutive baicalin treatment relieves its accumulation in rats with intrahepatic cholestasis by increasing MRP2 expression

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Baicalin, an important flavonoid isolated from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, is a Chinese herb widely used in clinical practice. We previously reported the in vivo accumulation of baicalin in rats with intrahepatic cholestasis (IHC) after a single dose.

Identity issues surrounding American skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) and an optimised high performance liquid chromatography method to authenticate commercially available products [PDF]

open access: yes
Traditional use of American skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora) for anxiety and related conditions is well documented. There is evidence of flavonoid instability in S. lateriflora and a high rate of substitution with other skullcap species or adulteration
