Phonon Band Gaps

open access: yesJournal de Physique I, 1997
We present structures, based on rods, that exhibit phonon band gaps. Structures based on rods made out of segments of different materials have very large gaps or multiple gaps. For homogeneous cylinders smaller gaps exist. Possible applications are discussed.

Cerebrospinal Fluid Liquid Biopsy Enables Targeted Therapy Without Tissue Diagnosis in Pediatric Low‐Grade Gliomas With BRAF V600E Mutation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present two pediatric cases of pediatric low‐grade gliomas (PLGG) with BRAF V600E mutations diagnosed and monitored using cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) liquid biopsy analyzed via digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), without tissue biopsy. Both patients were treated with dabrafenib and trametinib and monitored through clinical assessments, magnetic ...

A finite element analysis of the effects of geometrical shape on the elastic properties of chemical vapor deposited diamond nanowire

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
We report the effect of geometrical shape of diamond nanowire on its mechanical properties. Finite element modeling using COMSOL Multiphysics software is used to simulate various diamond nanowire with circular, square, rectangular, hexagonal and ...

Determination of the Band Gap Energy for Ternary Material Sn-In-Zn-O Thin Films by Electron Spectroscopy and Ultra-visible Spectrometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The SnInZnO thin film was prepared at room temperature by RF magnetron sputtering. The band gap of this film was investigated by REELS and UV-Spectrometer analysis.

Bifurcations and stability of gap solitons in periodic potentials

open access: yes, 2004
We analyze the existence, stability, and internal modes of gap solitons in nonlinear periodic systems described by the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with a sinusoidal potential, such as photonic crystals, waveguide arrays, optically-induced photonic ...

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

The organic functional group effect on the electronic structure of graphene nano-ribbon: A first-principles study

open access: yes, 2013
We report a first-principles study of the electronic structure of functionalized graphene nano-ribbon (aGNRs-f) by organic functional group (CH2C6H5) and find that CH2C6H5 functionalized group does not produce any electronic states in the gap and the ...
