On Base and Turyn Sequences [PDF]
Base sequences of lengths n + 1 n + 1 , n + 1 n + 1 , n, n are constructed for all decompositions of 4 n + 2 4n + 2 into four squares for n = 19 , … , 24 n = 19 ...

Feature-Based Sequence-to-Sequence Matching [PDF]
This paper studies the problem of matching two unsynchronized video sequences of the same dynamic scene, recorded by different stationary uncalibrated video cameras. The matching is done both in time and in space, where the spatial matching can be modeled by a homography (for 2D scenarios) or by a fundamental matrix (for 3D scenarios).

Sequence dependency of canonical base pair opening in the DNA double helix. [PDF]
The flipping-out of a DNA base from the double helical structure is a key step of many cellular processes, such as DNA replication, modification and repair.

Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli O157 Strains from Brazil
We describe two serogroup O157 Escherichia coli strains from Brazilian infants with diarrhea. A variety of assays indicate that these strains belong to the enteropathogenic, not the enterohemorrhagic, pathotype.

Molecular Epidemiology of O139 Vibrio cholerae: Mutation, Lateral Gene Transfer, and Founder Flush
Vibrio cholerae in O-group 139 was first isolated in 1992 and by 1993 had been found throughout the Indian subcontinent. This epidemic expansion probably resulted from a single source after a lateral gene transfer (LGT) event that changed the serotype of

Sequence-Based Anytime Control
We present two related anytime algorithms for control of nonlinear systems when the processing resources available are time-varying. The basic idea is to calculate tentative control input sequences for as many time steps into the future as allowed by the available processing resources at every time step.

Local alignment of two-base encoded DNA sequence
Background DNA sequence comparison is based on optimal local alignment of two sequences using a similarity score. However, some new DNA sequencing technologies do not directly measure the base sequence, but rather an encoded form, such as the two-base ...
