Transient response of BAW resonators

2019 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2019
The high demand for die size reduction and higher power levels in front-end modules to accommodate growing complexity pushes bulk acoustic wave (BAW) devices further into the nonlinear regime. Therefore, in order to reduce or cancel them, it is important to determine how they manifest in film bulk acoustic resonator (FBAR).

Ohmic effects in BAW-resonators

2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2006
Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) filters owe their performance advantages particularly to the excellent Q?vaules of the acoustic resonators. As these devices achieve very low impedances in the series resonance condition, the ohmic conductivity of the electrodes is expected to affect the device performance significantly.

Coupled baw resonator based duplexers

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006
A duplexer comprising a transmit resonator device and a receive resonator device for filtering transmit and receive signals. The resonator device has a first BAW resonator for generating an acoustic wave signal from an input electric signal, a first acoustic delay for delaying the acoustic wave signal, and an intermediate BAW resonator for receiving ...

Circuit models for power BAW resonators

2010 IEEE 26-th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2010
A critical review of the circuit models that reproduce the nonlinear behavior of power BAW resonators is presented. The parameters of a nonlinear circuit model which reproduces the amplitude-frequency effect and the frequency dependence of the second harmonic distortion are identified taking into account the parasitics corresponding to the connection ...

Field models of power BAW resonators

2008 4th European Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications, 2008
A linear electromechanical field model of an AlN piezoelectric resonator is developed in this paper. The values of the material parameters on the longitudinal direction have been validated by comparing the FEM results with the Mason multilayer model results and with small signal measurements.

BAW composite resonator spectroscopy

Proceedings of IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium ULTSYM-94, 1994
A review of some results and possibilities of recently developed simple method for measurement of bulk acoustic wave attenuation and velocity in thin layers and films is presented. The method is based on frequency measurements of positions of resonant peculiarities of phase and amplitude of electromagnetic wave reflection coefficient from composite ...

Modeling of RF- MEMS BAW Resonator

2010 23rd International Conference on VLSI Design, 2010
Due to the demand of smaller and more portable devices the applications of MEMS resonators are rapidly increasing. Solidly Mounted Resonators (SMR) based on Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) technology follow MEMS principles to build high performance microwave filters for RF communication. In this paper we will provide the architecture of SMRs by discussing the

Parametrically exited BAW composite resonator structures

18th European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF 2004), 2004
The general approach for calculation and analyzing frequency and field impedance dependencies of BAW composite resonator structures with parametrically exited layers is developed in this paper. The BAW resonator consisting of two piezoelectric layers was considered.

Ultralow-phase-noise oscillators based on BAW resonators

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2014
This paper presents two 2.1-GHz low-phase noise oscillators based on BAW resonators. Both a single-ended common base structure and a differential Colpitts structure have been implemented in a 0.25-μm BiCMOS process. The detailed design methods including the realization, optimization, and test are reported. The differential Colpitts structure exhibits a

3D FEM modeling of composite BAW resonators

2000 IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium. Proceedings. An International Symposium (Cat. No.00CH37121), 2002
We employ the finite element method (FEM) for numerical modeling of composite bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators. Our formerly 2D FEM software package has been extended into 3D through implementing linear and quadratic brick elements and by using the Gibbs-King algorithm for optimization of node numbering. A harmonic time dependence is assumed.
