Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Prosser-Type Sintered “Glassy” Beads Excavated from Dohouan (Côte d’Ivoire)
Recent archaeological sites dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries have rarely been studied to date. Among the 500 “glassy” beads excavated from Dohouan (Côte d’Ivoire), elemental analyses reveal that fewer than half contain abnormally high ...

Experimental evidence of solitary wave interaction in Hertzian chains
We study experimentally the interaction between two solitary waves that approach one to another in a linear chain of spheres interacting via the Hertz potential.

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

Method for the use of polymer beads as dosimeters for low-energy electron irradiation
In this study, a novel bead-based dosimetry system was developed. This approach uses suspended polymethyl methacrylate beads, which experience a dose-dependent change in fluorescence intensities.

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Microfluidic capturing-dynamics of paramagnetic bead suspensions
We study theoretically the capturing of paramagnetic beads by a magnetic field gradient in a microfluidic channel treating the beads as a continuum. Bead motion is affected by both fluidic and magnetic forces.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Novel polyhydroxyalkanoate beads for use as a vaccine against tuberculosis : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology at Massey University, Manawatū, New Zealand [PDF]
Tuberculosis was in 1993 declared as a re-emerging disease by the World Health Organization. The only vaccine currently available, BCG, an attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis, does not protect adults against the pulmonary disease, which is the ...
