Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.

Limitation of the Gaussian approximation in beam-beam simulations
The soft-Gaussian approximation is often employed in computer simulations of strong-strong beam-beam interactions in storage rings. Its defect on the coherent oscillation frequency is pointed out and a possible remedy using Hermitian polynominals is ...

Beam-Beam Interaction with a Crossing Angle [PDF]
A fairly accurate mapping for the beam-beam interaction with a crossing angle is proposed. Some simple results of the weak-strong tracking are shown: the beam-beam interaction becomes more serious when the crossing angle increases until the normalized angle {Phi} becomes about a half. Above this, it becomes less serious.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

In high intensity and high energy colliders, such as the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and its future high-luminosity upgrade, interactions between the two beams around the different interaction points impose machine performance limitations.

Beam-beam interaction in muon colliders
Inspired by the hybrid nature of muon colliders, we investigate the classical and quantum effects induced by the μ + μ − beam-beam interaction. We show that although the tendency of emittance dilution appears to be substantial in a single pass, it nevertheless quickly saturates.
