Beam-dust interactions in an e^{+}e^{−} collider
In recent electron-positron colliders designed and operated with very low emittance and high current, the energy density of the beam has increased significantly compared to earlier designs.

Beam ion instability: Measurement, analysis, and simulation
A weak vertical coupled-bunch instability with oscillation amplitude of the order of a few μm has been observed in SPEAR3 at nominal vacuum pressure. The instability becomes stronger with increasing neutral gas pressure as observed by turning off vacuum ...

Filling pattern dependence of regenerative beam breakup instability in energy recovery linacs
Beam breakup instability is a potential issue for all particle accelerators and is often the limiting factor for the maximum beam current that can be achieved.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Dust-induced beam losses in the cryogenic arcs of the CERN Large Hadron Collider
The interaction of dust particles with the LHC proton beams accounts for a major fraction of irregular beam loss events observed in LHC physics operation.

Coherent beam-beam interactions in electron-positron colliders [PDF]
We present the results of a new calculational technique that evaluates the beam-beam force due to an arbitrary charge distribution. We find coherent instabilities that dominate at certain operating points and depend strongly on the degree of damping in the system.

Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Mitigation of the kink instability in the energy recovery linac based electron-ion collider
Beam-beam effects in eRHIC, the proposed energy recovery linac (ERL)-based electron-ion collider (EIC) at BNL, have several unique features distinguishing them from those in hadron and lepton colliders.
