Performance of perforated FRP stub beams subject to static transverse actions [PDF]
This paper presents an experimental programme designed to investigate the failure mode and ultimate capacity of pultruded glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) cellular profiles subject to transverse loading.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Enhancing the bearing capacity of rigid footing using limited life kenaf geotextile reinforcement [PDF]
This research focuses on soft clay improvement by using Kenaf textile as a natural geotextile reinforcement. A series of small-scale laboratory tests were conducted to study the impact of the geotextile reinforcement depth, d, the vertical spacing ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Set-up effects of piles in sand tested in the centrifuge [PDF]
The bearing capacity of piles increases over time. Research has shown that this is caused by an increase in shaft friction combined with a constant or only slightly increasing base capacity.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Evaluation Of The Method Of Stress Characteristics For Estimation Of The Soil Bearing Capacity [PDF]
The classical bearing capacity theories rely on the superposition of three separatebearing capacities – a technique that is inherently conservative – but they also rely ontabulated or curve-fitted values of the bearing capacity factor, Nγ, which may ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

GAS THRUST BEARING OF INCREASED BEARING CAPACITY WITH YIELDING BEARING SURFACE
Basic operation factors of the deformed gas-lubricated thrust bearing with increased bearing capacity are theoretically analysed. It is shown that steady-state operation characteristics of this bearing differ from those of the rigid bearing.
