A study on the effect of the clearance on the contact stress and kinematics of polymeric composite journal bearings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this article the effect of the clearance on the contact stress and kinematics of a polymeric composite journal bearing is investigated. To this purpose a test rig is devised, which is capable to measure the tribological characteristics of the large ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Evolution Mechanism and Cyclic Degradation Model of Ultimate Bearing Capacity for Suction Caissons Under Inclined Combined Loading

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In the marine environment, the suction caisson foundation (SCF) is often subjected to combined inclined and cyclic loading from wind and waves, which may significantly affect its ultimate bearing capacity. Under combined loading conditions, the evolution

Assessment of the operating characteristics of the SSME LOX turbopump pump-end bearing [PDF]

open access: yes
A bearing/shaft model of the SSME LOX turbopump was developed using the SHABERTH bearing/shaft math modeling computer code. A previously developed bearing/shaft thermal model of the SSME LOX turbopump turbine and bearing was used in conjunction with ...

Bearing alloys with hexagonal crystal structures provide improved friction and wear characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Bearings of titanium, cobalt, and other hexagonal crystal alloys are used in vacuum and high temperature environments. These temperature-stabilized alloys have reduced friction and wear characteristics and therefore have potential use in aircraft seals ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Interaction of deformation-strength characteristics of the support load-bearing elements in the preparatory workings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The objective of this work is to study the relationship of the deformation-strength characteristics of the fastening system with its displacement value. The tendencies of influence are divided into two groups.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
