Bee pollen as healthy food

Journal of Entomological Research, 2023
AbstractIn recent years the bee pollen grains have gained significant importance as healthy food or food supplement due to their highly nutritious features. The pollen grains that provide genetic material and nutrients for the development of seed are the male reproductive part of flowers.

Bee Pollen

Bee Pollen (BP) is a mixture of nectar, salivary secretions from bees, and pollen grains collected from the flowers. It contains a wide range of nutrients, including proteins (10-40%), carbohydrates (13-55%), lipids (1-20%), vitamins (0.02-0.1%), minerals (0.5-3%), flavonoids (0.04-3%), and other bioactive substances such as phenolic compounds.

Pollen packing affects the function of pollen on corbiculate bees but not non-corbiculate bees

Arthropod-Plant Interactions, 2015
Female bees store scattered pollens grains from their bodies for transport by different modes of grooming and pollen packing. Species with corbiculae, such as honey or bumble bees, compress grains into dense pellets borne on the hind tibiae. Other species sweep grains into local concentrations of hairs (scopae), typically around the legs (in Halictidae

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids in honey and bee pollen

Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A, 2011
A total of 3917 honey samples and 119 'bee pollen' samples (pollen collected by honeybees) were analysed for pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). Some 0.05 M sulphuric acid was used for extraction followed by a clean-up step by means of solid-phase extraction. Separation and detection was achieved by target analysis using an LC-MS/MS system.

Bees and Pollens with Communication Strategy for Optimization

2016
Due to interference phenomena among constrained dimensions of the multimodal optimization or complex constrained optimization problems, a local optimum is easily converged, rather than for the expected global optimum. The enhanced diversity agent in optimal algorithms is one of the solutions to this issue.

Biological and therapeutic properties of bee pollen: a review

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2016
AbstractNatural products, including bee products, are particularly appreciated by consumers and are used for therapeutic purposes as alternative drugs. However, it is not known whether treatments with bee products are safe and how to minimise the health risks of such products.
