Benzimidazole Derivatives as Kinase Inhibitors

Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2014
Benzimidazole is a common kinase inhibitor scaffold and benzimidazole-based compounds interact with enzymes by multiple binding modes. In some cases, the benzimidazole acts as part of the hinge-binding motif, in others it has a scaffolding role without evidence for direct hinge binding. Several of these compounds are ATP-competitive inhibitors and show

Polymorphs of benzimidazole derivatives

Journal of Structural Chemistry, 2017
While growing 2-ethylbenzimidazole crystals from methanol, polymorph 1с is obtained. In polymorphs 1а-с, 2-ethylbenzimidazole molecules have a different arrangement in the packing and the position of the ethyl group relative to the benzimidazole plane. At the same time, the character (sequence) of intermolecular N–H…N bonds is maintained.

The mutagenicity of benzimidazole and benzimidazole derivatives I. Forward and reverse mutations in Salmonella typhimurium caused by benzimidazole and some of its derivatives

Mutation Research/Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1972
Abstract Benzimidazole and a number of derivatives have been found to induce forward mutations using l -azetidine carboxylic acid as the selective agent in Salmonella typhimurium . The analysis of the reversion of several different histidine-requiring mutants to histidine autotrophy under the influence of benzimidazole revealed that the mutagenic ...

The mutagenic mode of action of benzimidazole

Experientia, 1978
By using a bacterial mutant strain with a known restricted reversion pattern, it has been shown that benzimidazole induces an unidirectional base change also in vivo. The in vitro demonstrated strict G→A transition has thus been confirmed.

Imidazoles and benzimidazoles

1998
The parent compound imidazole (1) was first synthesized in 1858 by Debus but imidazole derivatives were known before this, e.g. lophine (2,4,5-triphenylimidazole) (2) was synthesized in 1845 by Laurent.

Benzimidazole treatment of cystic echinococcosis

Acta Tropica, 2003
Hydatidosis (cystic echinococcosis, CE) constitutes a serious public health problem worldwide. Total surgical removal of a hydatid cyst is still considered the gold standard treatment for CE. Percutaneous treatment (PAIR), using either hypertonic saline or alcohol as a larvacidal agent, appears to be an additional effective form of treatment ...
