Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications, 1970The reaction of substituted benzothiazine sulphoxides with Ac2O under reflux leads by an elimination reaction to a sulphenic acid derivative which undergoes subsequent addition to the generated double bond if the nitrogen is tertiary but is trapped as a cyclic sulphenamide by a secondary nitrogen.

New benzoxazine and benzothiazine dyes
Tetrahedron, 1976Abstract 2H-1,4-benzoxazine can be generated in situ from 1-(o-aminophenoxy)-2,2′-dimethoxyethane in trifluoroacetic acid whence further reaction leads to the benzoxazine bye 7. The benzothiazine dye 9 can be derived in similar fashion from 1-(o-aminophenylthio)-2,2-diethoxyethane.

Further Studies of Benzothiazine Metalation
Synthesis, 2013Treatment of benzothiazines 3 and 8 with butyllithium resulted in deprotonation at C3 to afford the corresponding organolithium species. These compounds could be trapped with a variety of electrophiles to give products in high yield. Some limitations to the processes chiefly based on steric effects were uncovered.

Azole derivatives of 1,4-benzothiazine as antifungal agents
Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, 1998A series of azole derivatives of 1,4-benzothiazine 7-14 was synthesized and evaluated for the in vitro and in vivo activity against Candida albicans. Secondary alcohol 10 and its ether derivative 13 showed very good efficacy against systemic candidiasis in a murine experimental model.
